Momentum WORK, Inc. is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization and disability service provider. (formerly UCP WORK, Inc.)

was founded in 1968 by the Kiwanis Club of Santa Barbara. The organization is governed by a volunteer Board of Directors and employs a staff of approximately 200 employees to administer and provide services to over 400 people. maintains offices in Santa Maria, Santa Barbara and Carpinteria (Santa Barbara County), and provides services throughout the Tri-Counties (San Luis Obispo, Santa Barbara and Ventura).

Bowling fun with Damon and Kashifa! Damon was ready to roll a strike, while Kashifa was focused on beating her earlier spare. Our participants had a great time enjoying friendly competition, laughter, and community.

Summertime creativity is in full bloom! Larry Chambers and Steve Salutan enjoyed painting pinecone flowers they helped put together, bringing art and nature together in a fun, hands-on activity.
Larry was especially enthusiastic and fully engaged in the project, while Steve also had a great time creating and connecting with the season. Moments like these make our days meaningful, creative, and full of joy.

Jesus and Brandon “Bobo” enjoyed a sunny day by the coast! Jesus took in the cool breeze and the feel of the Avila Pier, while Brandon had a great time exploring Pismo Pier and enjoying Beatles music. Moments like these make community outings meaningful and memorable.

Our visit to the Donkey Sanctuary was both fun and educational! Participants learned about donkeys, mules, and what makes them unique—including that mules are a cross between horses and donkeys.
We also discovered how donkeys are built for hot climates. Even though their fur may feel warm to the touch, it actually helps keep them cool in high temperatures.
Most importantly, we saw how gentle, friendly, and resilient these rescued animals are. It was an eye-opening outing filled with learning, compassion, and meaningful connection.

Creativity is taking shape at Momentum WORK Inc.! Our SMAA Day Program is introducing a new hands-on class—like woodshop, but with cardboard. Participants and DSP staff can design and build everything from airplanes and puzzle pieces to rockets, letting their imaginations lead the way.
Safety comes first, too. Everyone watches a safety video and wears safety glasses while creating. This new activity supports motor skills, hand-eye coordination, creativity, and confidence—all while having fun together.
