Chiropractic is a safe and effective course of treatment for people with temporomandibular disorders specifically effecting the temporomandibular joint or TMJ!

In a study published in 2023, a patient presented to their office with a 6 out of 10 pain, which included headaches, neck pain, and ear aches three to four times a week. Her cervical (neck) range of motion was severely diminished upon examination at 15 degrees compared to a normal 45+ degree range.

Therapy or cervical adjustments were administered 3x a week for the initial two weeks. After the two weeks, the patient reported a 70% improvement in all her TMJ symptoms (no jaw pain or clicking, reduced headaches). For the remainder of the month, she was adjusted twice a week, and after 4 weeks, she reported 100% resolution of her symptoms.

This case study highlights the efficacy of applying an interdisciplinary approach to treating TMD and the potential of chiropractic therapy as a valuable treatment option for managing TMD.

Can a chiropractor correct scoliosis?🤔 This a great question as kiddos are back in school and maybe getting a scoliosis check!

Scoliosis is a common condition where there are abnormal sideways curves in the spine that develop and progress during adolescence. While the most common diagnosis of scoliosis given is idiopathic scoliosis (aka scoliosis from an unknown cause) there is often an undiagnosed reason that is missed. 🧐🥸

This is the most common question asked and the answer is often exaggerated so we will break down where the truth lies and what claims are false. The lateral curvature is only able to be corrected (straightened out) if you are not skeletally mature, or in other words, still growing. This means before the age of ~17-20 a chiropractor can help with curvature reduction. (AKA BRING THOSE KIDDOS IN TO GET CHECKED)

The reason we experience pain and discomfort is due to the lack of symmetrical spinal joint motion and associated muscle tightness, both of which can be improved through chiropractic care. So in summary, scoliosis in a child can be corrected while with adults the function of the spine and how you feel is what changes.
