⚾Lou Gehrig Disease, also known as Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS), is a progressive neurological disease that affects the connection between the brain and muscles. Over time, individuals may gradually lose the ability to walk, talk, eat, and eventually breathe independently.
💙Every June, baseball teams around the world recognize Lou Gehrig Day in honor of the legendary New York Yankees first baseman who was diagnosed with ALS in 1939. His courage in the face of adversity continues to inspire millions.
💪One of Lou Gehrig’s most memorable quotes reminds us of the power of gratitude and resilience:
"I might have been given a bad break, but I've got an awful lot to live for."
While there is currently no cure for ALS and no treatment that can stop its progression, advances in research and medicine are providing new therapies that can help slow the disease and improve quality of life.
