When it hasn't been so steamy and hot, we have been outside enjoying summer! If we do have to stay inside, Barb has been keeping our residents busy with many activities!

Crafts are always popular. They have made pop bottle flowers, wind chimes, sticker crafts and beach themed snow globes!

The balloon toss is always a favorite exercise and tending to our garden gets our residents outside also. We often bake cookies for our snacks and here they are mixing up butterscotch cookies!

Our garden is doing great! We will be harvesting our sweet corn patch in a week or so.

I have also posted our latest pictures of our new martin house progression.

Thank you to every organization who takes the time to spend time here at Journey.

RSVP comes out to visit with our residents, have dessert and do a craft. In the spring they helped our residents plant flowers from seeds. When they were ready, we planted them in one of our raised planters in our courtyard.

Our Librarian read Eddie the Goldfish and Echo. The Swan Lake Conservation Center came out and gave an educational presentation on ducks!

We always enjoy the hymn singers and dessert!

Thank you to Barb from the Carroll Historical Society for her fantastic history topics. This time it was the town of Templeton, Iowa.

Jasper the dog came out for pet therapy. Even though he is a big boy, he was so loving and friendly!

Where has the summer gone? It is almost the 4th of July!

We celebrated Bud, Kathleen, Mary Ann's birthdays this month. Happy Birthday!

Kitten therapy is always a hit with our residents. We had a mother cat and baby come visit.🐱

We celebrated Father's Day with popcorn, a movie (Mr. Mom) and rootbeer floats!

We enjoyed the Hymn Singers sharing patriotic songs with our residents. Swan Lake came out with more pelts and our library came and read some great books to us. Also, thank you to RSVP for coming to spend time with us and doing crafts.

We made some sun catchers and also we have been working on some patriotic crafts. Some of our residents made red, white and blue parfaits! We spend a fair amount of time outside when it isn't so hot and these were a great out door treat!

We celebrated the start of the 4th of July with a traditional grill out for our staff and residents!

We wish everyone and Happy 4th of July and Happy Birthday to the USA!🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸

Summer is upon us and we can't believe it is June already! We celebrated Memorial Day by making patriotic wreaths with RSVP for our doors. Thank you to all who served!🇺🇸

Swan Lake came and did a fun presentation on bees. The Hymn singers graciously provide wonderful music for our residents. We also had a special visit from the Carroll Middle School singers! The Carroll Historical Society gave a presentation about Halbur, Iowa. Thank you to everyone for sharing your talents and passion with our residents.

Barb had the residents paint and design some birdhouses to hang around our trees at Journey. They had a great time creating them and then hanging them up! We also have a martin bird house in our back courtyard. They are beautiful birds and we love to hear them sing!

We then planted flowers around Journey and we got our sweet corn patch planted! Our potatoes are growing and so are our tomatoes.👍

We also have beautiful peonies bushes that bloom every spring.

Thank you for tuning in and have a great day!

It has been a busy spring. We always have a lot of visitors like the Bethel Baptist Church. We are so thankful that they come out and do Sunday services with us! We have our regulars that always make our day. The Library came and read a few books. "The Giraffe Is Too Tall For This Book" and "When Things Aren't Going Right" The Swan Lake Conservation Center came out with different furs and pelts. A special thank you to the Hymn Singers and the Historical Society for a wonderful program on the town of Halbur. RSVP came out and helped us plant flower seeds. They are growing fast! The animal shelter brought a gentle cat for our residents to love on. Thank you to everyone who shares their talents and expertise with us!

Brynna stopped out before prom with her date to mingle with our residents! Thank you!

We have been crafting and baking cookies. We found a recipe for chocolate chip cookies made with honey. They were fantastic!

We celebrated the first of May with May Baskets! We also had a very lovely Mother's Day Party! Happy Mother's Day to all the wonderful Moms and Grandmas!

The weather is slowly getting a bit better. We did get outside to plant some potatoes and tomatoes! We will be doing more flowers here soon!

Barb has been keeping our residents busy with many fun Spring crafts!

Thank you for tuning in!

So many creative crafts were on the agenda for Easter! One of the favorites, was dying easter eggs using rice and food coloring. It was an easy and mess free activity!

Thank you to Wendy from the Carroll Library for reading " Once I was a Tree" and " We are Definitely Human" to our residents.

Thank you also to Father and all the Pastors who come share the word with our residents.

The Swan Lake Conservation Center entertained us with facts and fun about all the different kinds of ducks in our area.

Bingo and making cookies for us to eat are always a good and tasty time for everybody!

We also had a very special visitor🐰
