We enjoyed the beautiful weather and low humidity as we had a fun ax-throwing competition on our Courtyard patio. It was filled with lots of laughter, cheers, and even some bullseyes! After an hour of playful competition, we headed inside to our theater, excited to play Bingo.

Last night, our residents gathered for the third installment of the University of West Georgia + TBOM Lifelong Learners’ Speaker Series, where paleontologist and UWG geology professor Brad Deline captivated the audience with insights into dinosaurs. The event featured Italian wine, a variety of tasty and colorful snacks, toy dinosaurs, and eager minds asking questions. Dr. Deline’s presentation titled “The end of the age of dinosaurs" was a fitting tribute to National Dinosaur Day, celebrated annually on June 1.

Fun and games at The Birches! We tried out a new activity called noodle ball, and it was absolutely delightful and so addictive—we ended up playing for an entire hour! Later, we played ladder golf in the Theater, and the game ended with three bolos (“golf balls”) wrapped around the top rung, earning 9 points!

On Senior Health and Fitness Day, Tanner Health’s Get Healthy, Live Well took center stage. To start, Chesley led us in a warm-up, followed by a seated music-and-movement class. After that, Phyllis provided facts on the importance of staying hydrated simply by drinking water. She also reviewed the incredible amounts of sugar in popular drinks. For the last 30 minutes, Denise facilitated a fun game of noodle ball. To close the two-hour activity, Jenny led the residents in a cool-down of stretching and deep breathing. It was a great demonstration of active aging!

Despite the rain outside, yesterday’s happy hour was rockin’ as we enjoyed Karen Vance's wonderful music. Plus, it was the final Friday of the month, making it the perfect time to celebrate all our May birthdays.

We had an exclusive VIP tour of the stunning University of West Georgia’s greenhouses, gardens, and grounds. Our guides—Makena, UWG's assistant director of signature events, Lisa the Landscape Supervisor, and Evan, a UWG Bluecoat—led us on an exciting golf cart adventure. We explored the student greenhouse, community garden, the UWG apiary, and the greenhouse operated by the landscape department. Along the way, we visited the beautiful John F. Kennedy Interfaith Chapel. As a special treat, we received delightful party favors—beautiful plants and flowers straight from the greenhouse, as well as delicious honey from the bees. A big thank you to UWG for this memorable experience!
