Getting fit means taking some risks. But when it comes to foot and ankle fractures, take that extra second to be cautious!
Why? Two reasons:
1.) An untreated fracture can get WAY worse if you try to "walk it off."
2.) We have an X-ray machine in our office, a team that treats plenty of athletes, and all the right tools to get you back in gear.
It's tough to tell what's wrong when your adrenaline is pumping. Call us instead: https://www.podiatrywellnessnj.com/contact-us

You're still growing.
Well, okay. Maybe not all of you.
But your feet definitely are!
It's true, in a way. As you age, the ligaments and tendons in your arches gradually lose their elasticity. This causes your foot to physically flatten, lengthen, and widen over time. Keep it in mind when you're grabbing new sneakers, and if you've noticed anything else you want to ask us about, feel free:

For Arthritis Awareness Month, we're sharing a tip to help you get past that "first-thing-in-the-morning-ache."
Arthritic feet almost always feel the worst first thing in the morning because your joint fluid thickens up overnight, so before you put your full body weight on the floor, spend 5 minutes spelling the alphabet in the air with your big toe!
This simple motion pumps warm fluid into the joint capsule, greasing the hinges before you take your first step of the day.

The spring weather is gorgeous, and your dog is thrilled to be outside. But when they suddenly lunge after a spring squirrel and you brace yourself in unsupportive slip-ons, the sudden twisting force can easily snap a ligament.

Moral of the story? Always wear real, lace-up sneakers for your dog walks to prevent the dreaded "squirrel sprain"! And if you've already injured yourself...

Track season is officially here, so if your teen is lacing up their spikes, keep an eye out for Achilles pain! Track spikes have a lower heel drop than standard sneakers, which puts extra tension on the Achilles tendon. If they are complaining of heel pain after practice, don't let them run through it. It feels pretty good going barefoot in grass
But sometimes it hides rusty nails or sharp glass!
Or sluggish spring bees that fly close to the ground
Sadly, in spring, foot punctures abound
Steps feeling sharp? Don't stress and don't wait
Give our team a call!
We'll fix up your gait.
