Happy summer, Panola County!🍉🌞
While school is out, the sun is shining and vacation days may be on the horizon, Panola Counseling Services wants to remind you to check-in with yourself! Summer often brings us more activities/events and different routines and we can sometimes find ourselves confused about how or why we're feeling off.
Here are some tips to help you be mindful of your mental health in the summer:
😎Stay hydrated - our minds and bodies are connected and the summer heat can zap our energy
😎Maintain a routine - whether it's keeping your school or work routine while you're on vacation or sticking with an adjusted routine, make one and stick with it! This can help your time feeling meaningful and your body and mind feel regulated
😎Pay attention to your sleep routine - sleep in the summer is so necessary, especially while on a trip or because our kids and teens are out of school. Attempt to keep sleep schedules as close to normal as you can! Push bedtime back a little for some summertime fun, but be mindful of sleep times and wake times.
😎Move your body - we know it's hot, but full body movement engagement aids in many mental health concerns! Take a family walk, go swimming with a friend; make it fun!
😎Be mindful of screen time - when we're out of our routine, it can be easy to let our screen time increase. If you catch yourself spending more time on your devices than you'd like, explore replacement strategies with your friends and family like games, crafts/hobbies or outdoor activities.
