Meet our newest PT, Dr. Laney! She is originally from Ohio where she attended University of Dayton and graduated with her Doctorate in Physical Therapy in 2024. She specializes in treating pelvic floor conditions such as incontinence and pelvic pain. Laney’s love for learning about the pelvic floor began at UD where she completed research on postpartum recovery and presented it on a national level.

Laney is passionate about helping individuals at all stages of life learn to have healthy, happy pelvic floors.  She takes a holistic approach to assessing the root cause of symptoms, then combining appropriate treatments to get you back to feeling strong and capable in your everyday life (without peeing your pants 😉).

Outside of work, Laney enjoys dancing, lifting, hiking, reading, and trying new foods with her husband.  She likes to relax in the evening curled up on the couch with a good romance book!

Meet Dr. Renn!

A Wake County native, Renn graduated from East Carolina University with a Doctorate in Physical Therapy. She considers all clients as athletes and helps them move better and more than they did before injury. She has previously worked with a variety of varsity ECU athletes, including football, cheer, baseball, cross-country/track, lacrosse, soccer, javelin, tennis, and swimming. Renn has a passion for powerlifting, with past experience in basketball, volleyball, running, Olympic lifting, and CrossFit.

When not working, you can find Renn enjoying a variety of outdoor activities, including hiking, car shows, and reading in a hammock. Her favorite wind down activities include powerlifting and traveling across the United States and abroad.

No matter your age or activity level, Renn is excited to help get you back to doing the activities that you enjoy the most!

Meet Dr. Joe 👋

Originally from Binghamton, NY, Joe made the move to Raleigh in 2018 to escape the winter and get a fresh start. Safe to say, he never looked back. These days you’ll find him exploring local parks with his wife, twin daughters, and their dog Jax, unwinding with a good bourbon, deep in an Xbox session, or somewhere mid-binge on whatever Netflix has him hooked on this week! 😄

When he’s not in dad mode or spending time home, Joe is in his element at Prosper.

Growing up, sports weren’t just a hobby, they were a way of life. Baseball, soccer, obstacle racing, powerlifting, CrossFit... if it was competitive and got you moving, Joe was in. That background didn’t just shape who he is as a person — it shaped the kind of PT he became.

After earning his Doctorate of Physical Therapy from SUNY Upstate Medical University and completing his Orthopedic Residency through Evidence in Motion, Joe became a Board-Certified Orthopedic Clinical Specialist (OCS). He enjoys treating athletes across the life span and loves helping people return to the activities that matter most to them!

Whether you’re a competitive athlete, a weekend warrior, or just trying to keep up with your kids, Joe gets it. He’s been there and he’s happy to help! 😊

Guys we did it! It’s been a hectic couple of months, but we are officially moved into our new spacious clinic at 100 Regency Forest Drive Suite 130! Our team packed up all our equipment (with some help from friends and family) this past weekend and got everything set up in the space! Checkout the before and after with the newly painted walls and new carpets as well as the addition of private treatment rooms and a great waiting area for our clients. Cannot wait to show our clients our new home! We are open normal hours this week!

Far too few people are doing resistance training despite the evidence showing its benefits.

Upwards of 60% of people in the US aren’t doing any muscle strengthening
Rates of participation for older adults are purported to be very low (10-15%)
If people aren’t training at all, the previously recommended guidelines are probably higher than what will initially be needed for people to start to see improvements

A favorite line: “deviating from previous guidelines, we propose that individualizing programs to increase RT participation is, from our perspective, more important than conforming to specific RTx criteria outlined in previous Position”

Knee osteoarthritis isn’t just about joint inflammation or changes.
It’s also about fear of movement.
New research by Huaning Liu, Lauren Straatman, Kathryn F. Webster, Kaylena Ehgoetz Martens, and Stacey M. Acker highlights how fear can limit physical activity — especially in people living with obesity.
Pain changes how we move.
Fear changes if we move.
