SUN Bucks provides a one-time payment of $120 per eligible child on a debit-like card that can be used to buy nutritious food at retailers and farmers markets that accept EBT, including most major grocery stores in North Carolina. SUN Bucks is one of three NC Summer Nutrition (SUN) Programs for Kids that keep children fueled during the summer while schools are out. Pertussis (whooping cough) is making a comeback in the United States. According to the American Academy of Pediatrics, there were more than 28,000 reported cases last year—a 300% increase in just two years.

Whooping cough is highly contagious and can be especially dangerous for babies and young children, causing severe coughing spells, breathing difficulties, hospitalization, and even death in infants.

The good news? Vaccination remains the safest and most effective way to protect your family.

✔️ Children should receive routine DTaP vaccines according to the recommended immunization schedule.
✔️ Adolescents should receive a Tdap booster.
✔️ Adults should receive a Tdap booster every 10 years.
✔️ Pregnant individuals should receive a Tdap vaccine during each pregnancy to help protect their newborn before they are old enough to be vaccinated.

Vaccines not only protect the person receiving them—they also help protect infants, grandparents, and others who are most vulnerable to serious illness.

Give your child the gift of reading with Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library!

Through this incredible program, children from birth to age 5 can receive a FREE, age-appropriate book delivered right to their mailbox every month. The goal is simple: inspire a lifelong love of reading and help build strong early literacy skills. 📖💜

Availability varies by community, so we encourage all families to check if the program is offered in their area and sign up if eligible. Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library provides free books to children in participating communities through partnerships with local organizations and supporters.
