Dave and Ann always had dogs while raising their children, so life without one never quite felt the same. After retiring, they became the go-to pet sitters for their kids’ dogs, happily spoiling them with treats and plenty of love whenever they visited. Although their children encouraged them to get another dog of their own, Dave and Ann felt the timing just wasn’t right.
That all changed when they began attending their grandchildren’s basketball games. There, they met the parents of one of the players, who had a Labradoodle. The sweet dog would happily curl up in their laps during the games and quickly won their hearts. It was exactly the kind of companion they had been hoping to find.
When they learned the breeder was expecting another litter, Dave and Ann knew they had to take a look. The moment they met the puppies, they fell in love. They brought home Holly, who fit into their family as though she had always been there. Born on December 9, Holly earned her festive name in honor of the holiday season.
A few months after moving to Waltonwood, they discovered an unexpected surprise. One of their neighbors’ daughters also had a Labradoodle—and it turned out the two dogs were siblings!
Dave and Ann laugh that Holly can be a little high-maintenance, but they wouldn’t have her any other way. To them, she’s worth every bit of it. What makes Holly so special is the unconditional love she gives them every single day. They both agree there’s nothing better than coming home to a dog who’s overjoyed to see them, no matter what kind of day they’ve had.
For the past 10½ years, Holly has brought endless joy, laughter, and companionship into their lives. Dave and Ann are grateful for every moment they’ve shared with her and look forward to making many more memories together.
