Our shelves are stocked with clean, reputable brands and we love to curate from local, woman-owned businesses.

Don’t come into Cary Apothecary if you just want to grab something and run.

Honestly, my favorite part of owning a wellness shop in Cary, IL isn’t the products. It’s the conversations.

You come in and tell me what you’re working on: cleaning up your skincare, finding a candle that doesn’t give you a headache, or just figuring out where to start. Then we walk the shop together, pick up products, flip them over and talk through the ingredients.

Some of you want a referral. Some of you just want someone to listen and point you in the right direction. Either way, I’m here for it, face to face, one on one.

You don’t have to do this perfectly. You just need a place to start and someone to ask.

Trick or treat… but for labels. 🍬

Low-tox living doesn’t mean skipping the candy bowl. Here at Cary Apothecary in Cary, IL, it’s about making better swaps where you can, not being perfect. Flipping over a label is an easy place to start.

Here’s what I look for before anything earns a spot on our shelves:

👻 Trick: one vague word covering a whole list of ingredients.
🍬 Treat: every ingredient listed, plain and clear.

👻 Trick: a label you need a dictionary to read.
🍬 Treat: ingredients you can picture, like soy wax, beeswax, cotton wicks and essential oils.

👻 Trick: no idea who made it or where.
🍬 Treat: a maker you can actually ask, like the candles poured in Crystal Lake and the honey from Woodstock on our shelves.

You don’t have to swap everything at once. Pick one thing, flip it over and see if it’s a trick or a treat.

Sometimes the thing that feels like it’s breaking you is quietly making you stronger, softer and wiser. Looking back, some of my hardest moments led me to exactly where I’m supposed to be, including opening Cary Apothecary right here in Cary, IL.

Yesterday, our family celebrated a beautiful milestone as our foster daughter’s adoption was finalized after 1,844 days — 5 long years — in foster care.

What a reminder that even when we cannot control the circumstances, we can make an extraordinary difference simply by showing up, offering love, and choosing to persevere.

Ironically, the same night, we attended the CASA of McHenry County event celebrating foster care, advocacy, and the incredible individuals who work tirelessly to ensure children have a voice and the support they deserve.

Thank you to CASA and everyone who continues to advocate for children, champion their well-being, and remind them that they are never alone.

Together, we can make a real difference 🩷
