What an awesome and meaningful way to conclude our summer internship program! đź’ś
Today, my intern, Marley Brunson, and I facilitated our virtual Lunch & Learn, “The Invisible Work of Caregiving: Who’s Caring for the Caregiver?” Eight caregivers joined us for an honest and supportive conversation about the emotional and mental load of caregiving, burnout, boundaries, asking for help, and the importance of caring for themselves, too.
I am especially grateful that each participant had an opportunity to feel seen, heard, and supported. Caregiving can often feel isolating, but today was a beautiful reminder that no caregiver has to carry everything alone.
This event was also the perfect conclusion to Marley’s summer internship. She shared that she is returning to Hampton University with a deeper understanding of the role of a psychologist - and even greater excitement about her upcoming psychology courses! It has been a joy watching her learn, grow, and use her gifts to serve others.
We ended this wonderful experience with a celebratory dinner. Marley, I am incredibly proud of you and excited to see where your journey leads! 🎓💜
