👩‍🍳 GROUP THERAPY WAS SERVED… LITERALLY! 👩‍🍳

The girls in therapy had the residents working together for a little group therapy session today—and this one came with a VERY delicious treatment plan! 😂

Today’s therapeutic interventions included:

🥩 Meatloaf
🥔 Mashed potatoes & gravy
🧀 Macaroni & cheese
🫛 Peas
🍫 Brownies

Residents worked together on meal prep, following directions, sequencing tasks, fine motor skills, teamwork, and of course… quality control. 😉

Nothing brings a group together quite like the smell of homemade comfort food! ❤️

By the end of the session, everyone had worked up an appetite—and apparently our treatment plan was highly effective, because there wasn’t much left! 😂

Therapy goal for the day: Improve functional skills, promote independence, encourage socialization… and make sure nobody leaves hungry! 👏🍽️

💙 A great big THANK YOU to Sarah Bush Lincoln Hospice! 💙

They heard we were having a particularly challenging morning here at Heartland and showed up with the sweetest surprise -- a HUGE bucket filled with snacks and drinks for our residents and staff! 🥰🍿🥤

Thank you so much to Chelsie and the entire SBL Hospice team for thinking of us, showing up when we needed a little extra encouragement, and helping turn a tough morning into a brighter one! 🌟

We appreciate you more than you know!

🛒✨ Welcome to KT Mart! ✨🛒

Today, Betsy took a trip to the KT Mart as part of her therapy session! 🛍️

What may look like a simple shopping trip was actually a functional therapy activity designed to simulate shopping in the community and help Betsy practice the skills she’ll need for a safe discharge home. From navigating the store and selecting items to reaching, carrying, making decisions, and safely moving around the environment, KT Mart gave her the chance to work on it all! 💪🏼

Because therapy isn’t always about exercises in the gym… sometimes it’s about making sure you’re ready to confidently handle real-life situations when you get home. 🏡❤️

A huge congratulations to one of our amazing Heartland team members, Nadia, on being crowned the 2026 Clark County Fair Queen! 👑

We loved having our queen stop by for a visit - and she even brought in the most beautiful flowers! 🌸

We are so proud of you, Nadia, and can't wait to watch you represent Clark County this year. Your Heartland family is cheering you on every step of the way!

🚨 Another successful rehab-to-home! 🚨

From the moment she arrived, she made one thing abundantly clear: “I’m going home.” There was no negotiating, no convincing, and definitely no extending her stay. 😂

So imagine our surprise when discharge day finally arrived, and suddenly it seemed like she wasn’t quite ready to leave. Funny how that works! We figured she’d be sprinting for the parking lot, but we’re convinced she secretly wanted to stay just one more day with her favorite therapy crew. 😉

All jokes aside, she worked incredibly hard, met her goals, and earned every step of this journey home. Congratulations on your successful discharge! We’re so proud of you and wish you all the best—just don’t be telling everyone you wanted to stay after all that fuss about going home! ❤️🏡

With profound sorrow, lingering resentment, and absolutely no prior notice (or so it feels), we announce the tragic passing of Liz’s career at our therapy department.

Liz departed this world on her own free will in pursuit of another job, leaving behind devastated coworkers, heartbroken residents, and a speech therapy caseload that no one wants to inherit.

She was known for her kindness, compassion, endless patience, and the rare ability to convince stubborn patients to actually do their exercises. She leaves behind a legacy of improved communication, countless smiles, and coworkers who are now accepting thoughts and prayers.

Liz is survived by:

* Residents who will ask, “Where’s Liz?” every single day.
* Coworkers who are still in the denial stage of grief.
* An empty office that now serves as a painful reminder of what once was.

She was preceded in death by:

* Our fully staffed therapy department.
* Workplace morale.
* Any hope of finding another SLP anytime soon.

In lieu of flowers, please send:

* A licensed Speech-Language Pathologist.
* Coffee.
* Therapy referrals.
* Or simply convince Liz to come back.

The family asks for privacy as they navigate this difficult time, repeatedly explain to residents why Liz isn’t here anymore, and pretend to be happy for her.

May she rest… at her new job. 💀🖤

🦈 Just when you thought it was safe to enter the therapy gym… it’s Shark Week! 🌊

Our therapy crew celebrated Shark Week by diving into the kitchen to create some fintastic shark-themed desserts! 🍪🧁 From mixing and decorating to plenty of laughs along the way, our residents worked on fine motor skills, standing balance, coordination, sequencing, and endurance—all while making a sweet treat.

Who knew therapy could be this jawsome? 😄 We’re always finding fun ways to turn everyday activities into meaningful therapy that helps our residents build the skills they need for everyday life.
