Today's Term: Knee-to-Knee Exam
If your child is a baby or toddler, you may hear us mention a knee-to-knee exam.
During this exam, you and the dentist sit facing each other with your knees touching. Your child starts in your lap, then gently leans back so their head rests comfortably in the assistant's and/or dentist's lap while you hold their hands and provide reassurance.
This position allows us to:
-Get a safe, clear view of your child's teeth
-Keep your little one feeling secure with you nearby
-Make the visit quick, gentle, and positive
A knee-to-knee exam is one of the best ways to help infants and toddlers have a comfortable first dental experience. 💙 🦷
