πŸš—β˜€οΈ Road Trip Season Is Here β˜€οΈπŸš—

Long hours in the car can leave your neck, back, and hips feeling stiff before you even reach your destination.

Before your next summer getaway:

βœ… Adjust your seat to support good posture
βœ… Keep your shoulders relaxed
βœ… Use lumbar support if needed
βœ… Take movement breaks every 1-2 hours
βœ… Stretch when you stop for gas or snacks

A little preparation can help make your vacation more comfortable from start to finish.

🦢 Tight Calves Could Be Contributing to Your Foot Pain

Tight calves can increase tension through the Achilles tendon and into the foot and heel. When the calves become tight or overworked, they can place extra tension on the plantar fascia and surrounding structures.

This can contribute to:
β€’ Heel pain
β€’ Foot tightness
β€’ Morning stiffness
β€’ Increased tension while walking or exercising

Mobility work, stretching, supportive footwear, and addressing movement patterns can all play a role in reducing strain and improving overall function.

πŸ’₯ Soreness vs. Dysfunction - What’s the Difference?

Muscle soreness after a workout, hike, or new activity can be completely normal. It’s often temporary and improves with movement and recovery.

But dysfunction tends to look different.

Signs may include:
β€’ Ongoing stiffness or tightness
β€’ Pain that keeps returning
β€’ Limited mobility
β€’ One side working harder than the other
β€’ Discomfort during everyday activities

Sometimes the body compensates for underlying issues long before pain becomes obvious.

Paying attention to how your body moves and recovers can help prevent small issues from becoming bigger ones over time.

πŸ’ͺ Repetitive Strain Adds Up

Tennis elbow is a common overuse condition that affects the tendons around the outside of the elbow.

Despite the name, it’s not limited to athletes. Everyday repetitive activities can contribute to irritation and strain over time.

Common activities may include:
β€’ Gardening and yard work
β€’ Lifting and gripping
β€’ Home projects and tools
β€’ Desk and computer work

Symptoms often develop gradually and can include:
β€’ Elbow discomfort or burning
β€’ Weak grip strength
β€’ Forearm tightness
β€’ Pain with lifting or twisting motions

Because repetitive strain builds over time, many people don’t notice symptoms until everyday tasks start becoming uncomfortable.

Paying attention to overuse early can help prevent symptoms from becoming more limiting.

🌼 Weekend Projects Add Up

As the weather warms up, many people jump back into yard work, gardening, home projects, and spring cleanup.

What often feels like β€œjust a few hours outside” can put more strain on your body than you realize.

Lifting, bending, pulling, reaching, and repetitive movements can all contribute to:
β€’ Neck and shoulder tension
β€’ Lower back discomfort
β€’ Tight hips and stiffness

Taking breaks, staying mindful of posture, and listening to your body can make a big difference during busy weekends.

Your body notices the little things, especially when they add up over time.

It’s easy to put yourself last, even when your body is asking for attention.

This Mother’s Day, take a moment for yourself, too.

You deserve to feel your best while caring for everyone else.
