Do you experience chronic back pain? Frequent headaches? Feel like your jaw is stuck shut? Stress & anxiety through the roof?

Sounds like you need some therapeutic massage.

I’m Mike, a licensed massage therapist on Main St in Catskill. I’ve been in private practice for over 5 years now serving clients in Greene & Columbia counties.

I originally started in a spare room in my house in Catskill. As my practice was growing and my wife and I were expecting, I decided it was time to get a proper office.

My first office was located on State Street in Hudson. I shared space with a chiropractor and another local LMT. It was quite the humble beginning. Eventually I started outgrowing that space and began desiring a place of my own.

After a long wait and a good ole case of being in the right place at the right time, I landed on what is now my current space in Catskill. Where I’ve been since the start of the year.

My work is a combo of my fave modalities: deep tissue, craniosacral, Thai or myofascial release. While I bring a fair amount of anatomy talk into my sessions, I’m also a firm believer in the mind body connection and all the woo 🤣.

My clients often say “I take them apart and put them back together… but better.”

Whether your aches and pains are from working at a desk, post gym recovery, wear and tear from manual labor, stress… or all of the above, my book is open for new clients.

I recently had a new client sign up for my massage membership.

The best part, we never met.

This client signed up and committed to my work before even having 1 session with me.

She came in with the awareness that the chronic shoulder pain she’d been experiencing from years of desk work compounded by giving birth to her first child wasn’t going away in one session.

In addition to that, she told me it was an easy decision after finding me on Google. One look at my online presence: dozens of 5 star reviews, social media filled with valuable content & a beautiful website gave her all the info and vibe check she needed.

This is the exact kind of client I like working with. One that is aware of their bodies needs and being able to see the value that therapeutic massage can provide. To some it’s a luxury, to others it’s mandatory self/health care.

No matter your intention for showing up to my office, having a clear vision for your bodies needs and being able to appreciate the work I do, (believe it or not some don’t), is the perfect recipe for a magical massage experience.

I’ve had my massage membership for a little over 2 years now. The average person has been around over a year, with some of the members being in it since the inception or shortly after.

Most come for shoulder or neck pain and stay because they see the value in maintaining all the work that’s been accomplished.

I’m taking new clients (and yes new members) in my massage practice at my office located in Catskill NY.

I’ve always believed that healing is a deeply personal journey, requiring patience, trust, and a safe space for vulnerability. As a therapeutic massage practitioner, my role is to not just provide bodywork but to create an environment where people can reconnect with their bodies, emotions, and souls. Each session is a chance to guide someone toward healing, recognizing that no two journeys are the same. It’s about listening to the unique needs of each body and responding with care.

When I first worked with her, I sensed her apprehension. She had recently undergone a mastectomy and reconstruction, a difficult journey both physically and emotionally. She was understandably nervous about how her body would respond to touch after such a traumatic experience. I knew it would take time for her to feel safe enough to truly relax, so I committed to being patient, offering a space where she could heal at her own pace.

I could feel the tension her body was holding—not just from the surgery, but from the emotional weight of her experiences. My work needed to be subtle yet powerful, non-invasive, and responsive to her needs. Each session was an opportunity for her to breathe deeply, feel her body, and release the physical and emotional blocks that had built up.

As the sessions progressed, I could feel the energy shift. She began to breathe more easily, her muscles softened, and I saw her reconnect with her body in new ways. Watching her regain trust in her body’s ability to heal, and in herself, was incredibly powerful.

I never take for granted the privilege of being part of someone’s healing journey. Over time, it became clear that my work was helping her recover physically and emotionally, rebuilding the resilience that cancer and surgery had tested. Healing wasn’t just about the body—it was about reclaiming her sense of self and confidence.

I’m grateful to be part of her healing team. My hope is that others in vulnerable places, for any reason, can experience the same care and support. Therapeutic massage is powerful, but true healing comes when people feel safe, heard, and supported. That’s what I strive to offer.

I get all jazzed up talking about cranio-sacral therapy.

The other day I had a client experience an emotional release on the table.

To be honest these are one of the most challenging scenarios for my work. Mostly because of intentionality. I actually welcome and enjoy when a client has an emotional release. It’s such an honor to see someone that way, and to be allowed to witness it. The thing that sucks is technically it’s not part of my “licensure.”

Everyone experiences emotional releases differently. And their need during a release is different as well.

But once my client and I enter into that space I can’t just walk away...

I decided to just hold the space and be present with this client...

Letting him lead. Allowing his feelings to come out.

We experienced waves of grief and release together throughout the session.

I can tell something shifted. Its as if he had done a year’s worth of massage with me in that one sessions.

I can tell something shifted in me as well. I never claim myself to be the “healer” for my clients. The healing comes from within. What I really noticed though was how I held the space.

I’ve had many clients experience releases on the table. This one was different.

Instantly it clicked... as if I had an epiphany: don’t doubt yourself Mike. You’re powerful beyond measure.

Since doing my Craniosacral training in December there’s been a huge shift in my bodywork emerging. And I’m sure as heck excited to continue exploring it...

I’m taking new clients. Booking link in bio.

Getting worked on isn’t a luxury for me.

It’s a priority.

If you call yourself a healer—coach, bodyworker, space-holder—and you’re not actively tending to your own nervous system?

Good luck.

I’ve seen myself and countless others, time and time again, not tend to themselves. Only to burnout.

Nowadays I’m focusing on tending to myself.

Not just because I “earned a treat.”
Because this is R&D.

I can only guide my clients to the depth and level of care I’ve explored myself.

I can’t guide someone into surrender if I’m clenched.
I can’t teach embodiment if I’m disconnected from my own tissue.
I can’t talk about expansion while avoiding my own edges.

This work requires refinement.

It requires being humbled by someone else’s offer. Feeling my own resistance. Letting someone else take me somewhere I can’t take yourself.

That’s how I stay sharp. That’s how I stay clean. That’s how I stay honest.

My clients feel it.

Not because of what I say— but because of who I am when I serve them.
When I coach them. When I hold them.

If you’re the strong one for everyone else… who’s holding you?

Self-care isn’t just bubble baths and affirmations.

It’s putting yourself in the crucible too.
It’s doing brave sh*t.
Receiving. Softening. Letting your nervous system recalibrate.

Healers who don’t receive eventually harden.

And hardened healers can’t feel.

If this hits, good.

Book the session. Make the trade.
Stop pretending you’re beyond needing the work.

The only way out is through.
Your body already knows.
Are you willing to receive?
