Being that The Phoenix Project is Veteran founded and owned, military holidays and of course days like 9/11 are very near and dear to our hearts. Today we went to support our local Veterans Club in Munfordville at their September 11th event. We honored all 2,977 victims with a moment of silence and prayer while also recognizing first responders in our area. A local motorcycle club, Can’t Stop Won’t Stop who is also very active in our community and very close to our program, did a motorcycle ride to all local fire stations to drop off supplies and honor them. We also got to meet and got words of encouragement from Ms. Kentucky Teresa Ash. It was truly an honor to be a part of this. We have one very simple message on days like today, we will always be here to support our local Veterans and all of our first responders. Thank you for all you do. We will continue to stand with you.

Want to give a huge shout out to the Barren County Homemakers. These amazing ladies heard about our program and have been nothing short of a blessing. They have received two grants this year and decided to support our program. Earlier this year they made a $500 donation to the guys and now they have purchased $250 worth of hygiene supplies for people that are starting their recovery journey. It’s always nice to have community support. Thank you ladies very much. It will be put to good use.

Second night of service work for The Phoenix Project and serving our community. This one was special and a group we will always stand side by side to help. Hart County Veteran's Committee had their 4th of July event and we were honored to help them. These people sacrificed so much for our freedom and we will always step up to help them. It’s a blessing for our program and our clients to be asked to help them in anyway. We will always show up for them.

Service work is a huge part of sobriety and we at The Phoenix Project pride ourselves on serving the community. Tonight we had a group of clients help with the Cave City 4th of July event. Whether it be directing traffic, helping with parking or picking up trash we do it with a smile on our face. Not only does it help the community, but it helps us to stay sober for today. Tomorrow it’s on to be of service at the Hart County Veterans Club 4th of July event.

We believe that there are many ways to add to people’s recovery outside of being in a classroom setting or a one on one therapy session. Yesterday we took a few of our clients to Lowe’s to start working on a garden. They will be growing all kinds of vegetables and fruits that they can pick fresh from the garden to eat for the fall and winter. Not only does this provide self sustainably with food, it also teaches responsibility and provides a calming, therapeutic time in their day to just tend to their garden. Now the hard part, tilling, building the flower beds and planting. Updates to follow all summer!!
