We are thrilled to announce that our co-founder, Dr. Jerome Aya-ay, has been elected President of the South Carolina Academy of Family Physicians (SCAFP)!

This is an incredible honor and a testament to Dr. Aya-ay’s unwavering commitment to family medicine, physician leadership, and exceptional patient care. Even more exciting, he is believed to be the first physician actively practicing in the Direct Primary Care (DPC) model to serve as President of the SCAFP—a milestone that highlights the growing impact and recognition of Direct Primary Care across our state.

🚨 Case Study Friday 🚨

One of the biggest benefits of being part of a Direct Primary Care practice is the ability to get answers quickly and affordably — without the ER in this case.

Friday, a 57-year-old gentleman came in with significant abdominal pain. After a careful exam and discussion, we were concerned about diverticulitis, though appendicitis was also on our radar.

📅 It’s Friday afternoon — typically a tough time to get advanced imaging without sending someone to the ER.

But not here. Thanks to our new in-house CT scanner, we were able to perform a CT with contrast right away.
✅ The scan confirmed diverticulitis — no appendicitis, no abscess, no perforation.
✅ We reviewed the images with our radiologist.
✅ Prescribed affordable antibiotics.
✅ The patient should feel much better by Saturday and still make it to his family event.

💡 Total cost? Around $450.
⏳ Time saved? Hours.
💵 Costs avoided? Likely $6,000–$8,000 in ER charges.
