HYPERBARIC TREATMENT CORRECTION
We love our community! Hyperbaric chambers are fantastic at treating our bodies in times that they need access to more oxygen. Altitude sickness, carbon monoxide poisoning, migraines, recovering from scuba diving if proper protocols are not followed when resurfacing, etc.
When we heard about the carbon monoxide poisoning in the schools, we wanted to offer assistance. We heard that kids were being referred to St. George and personally knew some kids whose parents could not get them there. We called the district to offer our support, but they informed us that they would not tell people about the chambers in Cedar and they weren't sure if ours were high enough grade to be helpful in this situation.
Our chambers are a 1.5 ATA and deliver 93% oxygen via a mask. We were told when we purchased it that this was appropriate for treating carbon monoxide poisoning, and so we wanted to give other options to people in Cedar if they couldn't travel.
We have SINCE learned that the dose the children were exposed to requires higher treatment pressure than we are able to deliver in our unit. In this case, a hard-sided 2.0 ATA unit with 100% oxygen delivered is what is needed. Those are indeed only found at a hospital.
We are posting this to apologize for any misinformation. Helping our community is incredibly important to us and we apologize for any confusion.
While our chamber is a higher pressure than most, it is not the best option for the school. District's carbon monoxide poisoning.
