CHILDHOOD CANCER AWARENESS MONTH
DAY 11
LOOK AT THAT SMILE
After everything Brooklynn has been through, this is what we fight for.
Cancer can quickly turn childhood into appointments, treatments, medications and scans. But Brooklynn is so much more than her diagnosis.
She is a kid who laughs, gives us a hard time, makes memories and LIVES HER LIFE.
That is why quality of life has always mattered so much to us.
We don't just want more time.
We want her to enjoy that time.
More smiles. More laughter. More memories. More LIFE.
Cancer gets enough from these kids.
It doesn't deserve their entire childhood too.

CHILDHOOD CANCER AWARENESS MONTH
DAY 10
REST IS PART OF THE FIGHT
Apparently this is what rest looks like at our house 😂
One thing we have learned through Brooklynn’s journey is that rest is not giving up. Rest is part of the fight.
Her body has been through more than any child should ever have to go through. Radiation, surgeries, procedures, infections, medications, hospital stays and everything in between. There are days she wants to go to school, be with her friends and live her life. And there are days her body simply says not today.
We have learned to listen.
Sleep in. Take the nap. Stay home from school. Lay on the couch and make ridiculous faces for Dad. 😂
Supporting the whole child also means knowing when NOT to push.
This fight has never been about cramming as much as possible into every single day. It is about protecting Brooklynn’s body, her quality of life and giving her every opportunity to actually enjoy the life we are fighting so hard for.
Some days fighting looks like appointments, treatments and therapies.
Some days it looks exactly like this.
And both matter.

CHILDHOOD CANCER AWARENESS MONTH
DAY 9
USE EVERY TOOL AVAILABLE TO YOU
One of the biggest things Brooklynns journey has taught us is that this fight has never been about finding one magic thing.
We research everything.
We have used repurposed medications that were never originally developed for cancer.
We have even repurposed tools like the Q Collar when we believed there was a reasonable purpose for using it and worked with her medical team around what we were seeing.
Some things are conventional
Some are supportive
Some are outside the box
But everything starts with research and one question
How can this potentially help Brooklynn while protecting her quality of life
We are not telling another family to copy what we do
We are telling families to ASK QUESTIONS
Do your research
Get second opinions
Understand the risks and the evidence
And never stop learning
Because for us this has never been about treating a tumor and forgetting about the child carrying it
It is about supporting the whole child and helping Brooklynn LIVE HER LIFE
That is why we do this

CHILDHOOD CANCER AWARENESS MONTH
DAY 8
THE THINGS WE USED TO TAKE FOR GRANTED
This picture probably does not look like much.
It is Brooklynn and her brothers sitting in the truck playing a game together.
Before cancer we probably would not have thought twice about it.
Now I look back and realize these are the moments that mean everything.
Cancer changes your relationship with time.
You stop waiting for vacations birthdays and big events to make memories.
A car ride matters.
Hearing your kids laugh together matters.
An ordinary Tuesday matters.
Because someday you realize the ordinary moments were never ordinary at all.
They were life.
So today our awareness message is simple
Do not overlook the small things.
Take the picture
Enjoy the moment
Make the memory
Because the small things really are the big things.

Labor Day with our girl. ❤️
No big plans. No appointments. No hospitals. Just Brooklynn outside enjoying the sunshine and living her life.
After everything this girl has been through, sometimes the most ordinary days mean the absolute most.
This is what we fight for.

CHILDHOOD CANCER AWARENESS MONTH
DAY 4
THE SIBLINGS NOBODY TALKS ABOUT
When a child is diagnosed with cancer there are other kids whose lives change overnight too.
Their brothers and sisters.
They watch mom and dad leave for another hospital stay.
They watch plans change and life get rearranged around appointments treatments and emergencies.
They hear conversations they were never supposed to understand at their age.
They worry.
They sacrifice.
And sometimes they stay quiet because they know their sibling needs mom and dad more right now.
That part hurts.
Our kids have had to share their childhood with Brooklynns cancer too.
They have watched their sister go through things no brother or sister should ever have to witness while still trying to live their own lives.
And through all of this we have watched them love her protect her make her laugh and stand beside her.
We could not be more proud of them.
Childhood cancer did not just change Brooklynns childhood.
It changed theirs too.
So today we want to recognize the siblings.
The ones standing just outside the hospital bed.
They may not be the patient
But they are living childhood cancer too.
DAY 4

CHILDHOOD CANCER AWARENESS MONTH
DAY 3
THIS IS PART OF HER FIGHT TOO
This is Brooklynn receiving her 75 gram high dose Vitamin C IV.
It is one of the supportive therapies we chose to incorporate into her journey after doing our own research.
Why share this during Childhood Cancer Awareness Month
Because childhood cancer awareness should show the whole journey.
Not just the scans and hospital stays.
Not just the tumor.
The child.
For us that means paying attention to hydration nutrition strength comfort inflammation recovery and quality of life while her medical team continues to monitor her cancer.
We have been incredibly happy with what we have personally seen in Brooklynn but our experience is exactly that our experience.
We share it so families know they can research ask questions and have conversations with their medical teams about supportive and integrative care.
There is more to caring for a child with cancer than fighting the disease.
You have to take care of the child carrying it.
And somehow through all of it she still gives us that smile.

CHILDHOOD CANCER AWARENESS MONTH
DAY 2
HYDRATION MATTERS
This was Brooklynn last night.
One thing we have learned through this journey is just how important hydration can be. When Brooklynn is not drinking enough or her body needs some extra support we do not ignore it. Sometimes that means IV fluids.
And that guy beside her is Cooper.
Cooper is one of those nurses who goes above and beyond for Brooklynn. He has even come in on his day off to take care of her. You never forget the people who show up for your child like that.
Childhood cancer care is not only about treating cancer.
It is also hydration nutrition rest comfort managing symptoms and protecting quality of life.
Support the whole child every single day.
And thank you Cooper for always taking such good care of our girl.

CHILDHOOD CANCER AWARENESS MONTH 💛
This is a side of childhood cancer most people never see.
Brooklynn has completed more than 240 one-hour sessions in this full-spectrum light bed.
It uses red, near-infrared, blue and green light, along with thousands of programmed frequency settings.
For our family, this has never been about one magic treatment or claiming a cure.
It has been about supporting the whole child.
Comfort. Pain. Inflammation. Recovery. Quality of life.
Because when your child has cancer, you aren't only thinking about the tumor.
You're thinking about the CHILD carrying it.
How she feels.
What her body is going through.
And how you can help her continue to LIVE HER LIFE.
That's a part of childhood cancer awareness we don't talk about enough.
The diagnosis matters. But so does the child behind it. 💛
