Do you do biofeedback at Cultivate PT?

We do have a biofeedback machine, but truthfully we rarely use it. Why? Because it's usually not the most effective form of treatment.

Hands on therapy that looks into all aspects of why you are having pelvic floor dysfunction is the key.

With adult patients, internal assessment and treatment is the best way to find out what is going on. Then incorporating exercises and other interventions based off of what we find.

For kiddos, no internal assessment is done, but there are often more effective and efficient ways of treating the pelvic floor than use of biofeedback. This can include manual work throughout their abdomen and spine as well as proper toileting techniques, breath-work, and other fun exercises depending on what they need!

Pelvic PT at Cultivate PT may look a bit different than other places you've been.

Dr. Sarah takes a whole body approach to treating the pelvic floor. This mean checking from head to toe to see what might be contributing to your pelvic floor dysfunction. Adults can also greatly benefit from internal assessments and treatment to ensure optimal function.

Treatment consists of a variety of techniques to address your specific concerns with a focus on hands on therapy. No hooking you up to a machine and having you kegel or giving the same exercises to every patient.

Why would kids need Pelvic PT??

Everyone has a pelvic floor, including kids! A lot of adults have issues that started in childhood and were never addressed. The earlier we can address, the better!! It can also help keep parents a bit more sane. 😛

Kids can struggle with a variety of pelvic floor issues including: incomplete bladder emptying, recurrent UTI's, constipation, urinary and f***l leaking, re**al prolapse, difficulty potty training, and toilet refusal! Pelvic PT can help with all of this!

Can Pelvic PT be helpful for pregnant people both during pregnancy and postpartum?

Yes!! During pregnancy, pelvic PT can help a TON with the aches and pains that tend to go along with it. You do not have to sit and suffer and "wait until you give birth" for it to get better. We can also work on birth prep and making sure your pelvic floor can relax and lengthen to help baby out as well as strategies for labor and delivery.

At Cultivate PT, we do things a little differently postpartum. Dr. Sarah offers a 4 week home visit when you are postpartum in order to check on you and your family during a time that is often quite lonely without providers checking in. We then can work together to get you back to doing what you want to do as you go through your postpartum healing journey!
