What a way to start the week! Getting this trial communication device into the hands of a client to explore. 🤗😍🗣️

This is an example of a high-tech form of AAC. What I love about these devices is the speech output pairs with symbols of words to build understanding of language. Plus, they can be edited to add in your child’s favorite things (toys, foods, people, activities, etc.)!

Using a script like “One snack, two taps” is a helpful way for kids to remember directions. We adapted this Greedy Granny game to drill the “R” sound in varying positions. Say the 3 words 3 times, then try to sneak a snack!

Video modeling is a great strategy to teach children new skills. In this example, I’m providing a verbal prompt (“Get your device”) and modeling what the child should do. Many children benefit from actually SEEING the intended action. Heck, many ADULTS benefit from video modeling. How many of us use YouTube video tutorials for projects around the house? 🙋🏼‍♀️
