Our programs teach techniques, exercises, and skills that develop confidence and promote independence. Gaps in Executive Functioning directly affects a person's ability to perform daily tasks. Occupational therapists are health care professionals uniquely qualified to build executive function skills because of their focus on participation in daily activities. OT's are trained in neurology, physiology, kinesiology, child development, psychology, psychosocial development, activity-task analysis, sensory processing systems, and therapeutic techniques. Developing executive function skills and learning to apply them to daily living requires a holistic perspective. Our model strives to create a team that works together for our clients. We provide services which include follow-up opportunities to work with Executive Functioning mentors and coaches to help solidify skills and develop further independence.

Co-regulation doesn’t have involve hugging. Some kids won’t calm when held but doesn’t mean that you can’t co-regulate. Being close and calm will still impact your child’s nervous system and eventually calm too. When you label the feeling for your child rather than reacting to the behaviour, they feel heard and understood. When they are ready you can work it out together

This is such a great visual of co-regulation. Of course sometimes your child won't want to be held and don't force it. But if we can stay calm, meet the feeling not the behaviour then co-regulation can happen. When we hold our child there is a physical change. Their nervous system will mirror ours. We just have to wait for the fire to go out.
