You might have noticed a new addition to the Myopia Center of Texas logo: a tulip. I added this symbol for a very specific reason, and I want to take a moment to share the story of how it honors someone who had a profound impact on my life.
Growing up, I was raised by a hardworking single mother who did everything she could to provide for our family. When I needed braces as a child, the cost placed them out of reach. At that time, my aunt stepped in and covered the expense so I could receive the care I needed. It was a generous act that I have never forgotten.
My aunt’s name was Laleh, which means “tulip” in Farsi. The tulip has come to symbolize that moment of support and belief in my future.
But she did far more than help me with that one moment. She taught me independence, instilled a strong sense of confidence in who I was, and later offered guidance and encouragement as I built my own practice.
In recent years, my aunt bravely battled cancer before passing away in March. Honoring her memory has become deeply important to me. As a mother myself now, I often reflect on the kindness she showed me and how one act of support can change what is possible for a child.
Because of her, I knew I didn't want finances to stand in the way of a child getting the treatment that they needed. That is why I restructured our fees to keep specialized myopia care fair and manageable, so we can help kids protect their eyes without their parents stressing over the bill.
The tulip woven into our brand honors my ammeh Laleh — a reminder that compassion can change a child’s future, and that her kindness continues to inspire the care we provide to families every day.
