💜💛Last night I watched one of my crime documentaries but something stuck with me and made me really sad.
💜In 1989 the Central Park *apist actually unalived a mother who had 3 small children and she was pregnant. She was 24yo and had remarried. She had a bonus son(maybe about 5yo), a biological son and an infant daughter.
💛This guy came in their home and assaulted her while the kids were in the other room which gives you more devastating context.
💜After she succumbed to her injuries the kids were split up. The biological son was sent away, from home to home with no stability. No mental help, but just festering anger and feelings of not being unwanted.
💛The bio son and the bonus son were best friends but because the dynamics changed, they never were able to stay in touch. But the Husband/Father also wasn’t able to handle the load after that tragedy. He sent the infant daughter to his mother in Mexico. So the whole family suffered.
💜This is the tragedy of a parent incarcerated or deceased. Kids need more grace than that. That’s why mental health and/or mentoring is so important.
💛As of 2021 the bio son went back into the system for reckless assault and given a 5yr sentence. He admitted it’s been a revolving door for him and the system. There are real statistics of this type of tragedy becoming generational unless our community cares to intervene.
