🌟 Meet the Team: Staff Spotlight🌟

At Northbrook Health Care & Rehabilitation, our team is what makes us special—and we’re excited to introduce Ashley Kersten, our Human Resources Director.

Ashley has been part of the Northbrook family for almost three years and will celebrate her 3-year anniversary on August 17! She has worked in healthcare for nearly 13 years, all in long-term care. Starting in housekeeping, Ashley has grown her career all the way to serving as a Provisional Administrator, bringing a wealth of experience and passion to everything she does.

🐾 Fun Fact: Ashley loves animals so much that she says she has her own little petting zoo at home!

👨‍👩‍👦‍👦 Family: Ashley has been married to her husband, Mike, for six years (and they’ve been together for 18!). She has six grown stepsons, a granddaughter, Ayala, who turns five in November, and three nieces she absolutely adores—and happily spoils!

🎨 Hobbies: When she’s not at work, Ashley enjoys crafting, riding bikes, fishing, and has always loved playing softball.

“The people. I enjoy everyone I work with, and the residents are great—we have a good time here.”

💙 Thank You for Making Our First-Ever Pop-Up Market a Success! 💙

We want to extend a heartfelt thank you to everyone who attended, shopped, volunteered, and helped make Northbrook Health Care & Rehabilitation’s Pop-Up Market last week such a wonderful event.

🎉 We’re one hour into Northbrook Health Care & Rehabilitation’s very first Pop-Up Market, and it’s been a fantastic afternoon so far!

The vendors are set up, families and community members are stopping by, and our residents are having a wonderful time shopping, visiting, and enjoying all the fun activities.

There’s still plenty of time to join us! Stop by until 4:00 PM to support local vendors, meet our amazing hospice partners, and enjoy a fun afternoon with the Northbrook community. We’d love to see you! 💙🛍️

💡 Another improvement happening at Northbrook!

Our maintenance team has been busy updating our exterior lighting to help improve safety and visibility for our residents, visitors, and staff.

This is just one of the many improvements being made as we continue investing in our facility and the Northbrook community. 💙

🌟 Meet the Team: Staff Spotlight! 🌟

Meet Michael Gipe, one of the many dedicated members of our Northbrook team! Michael has worked in healthcare for 17 years and has been with Northbrook for 1½ years, performing several essential roles including Restorative Aide, CNA, OMT, Scheduling and Central Supply.

🐸Fun Fact: Michael was born on Leap Day!

🐾 Hobbies: Spending time with his dog, cat, and turtle.

🏠Family: Michael has three siblings, seven nieces, and one nephew.

When asked what he likes most about working at Northbrook, Michael shared: “I like the staff. I have met some good friends working here.”

We’re are blessed to have Michael as part of the Northbrook Health Care and Rehabilitation team! 💙👏

☀️ It’s a beautiful day here at Northbrook! ☀️

Yesterday’s rain helped clear away the haze from the Canadian wildfires, leaving us with fresh air, a nice breeze and 78 degrees of sunshine to enjoy with good company.
