Let's get outside and make some art! ☀️🌿

Grab a piece of paper and your favorite 2D art materials. This simple shadow tracing activity
encourages mindfulness, creativity, and connection with nature. Find a sunny spot, trace the shadow of a leaf, flower, or other natural object, and notice what you discover along the way.

This is such a fun trend we couldn’t help it!

But seriously it truly is kinda chic to take your mental health seriously. Developing deep
self-knowledge, tending to your inner landscape, taking really good care of your body and unique emotional needs, communicating clearly and honestly in relationships + taking responsibility for navigating and living your most authentic life! It is so rewarding, empowering, and inspiring!

Please help us welcome Megan to the Blue Pines Counseling team! We are so excited to have her join our team and be a part of our community. She brings such warmth and care to her work; we know you’ll love working with her!

“As a therapist, my goal is to empower my clients using an integrative, relational approach that evolves as our therapeutic relationship grows. I show up in session with empathy, authenticity, humor, and curiosity, aiming to strike the right balance of gravity and levity, there is room for all of it. I believe each person is the expert on themselves and am committed to understanding each client’s lived experience and worldview. Together, we will identify ways to enhance your quality of life through exploration and processing in an emotionally safe and supportive environment.”

WORD COLLAGE

This is a really fun way to reconnect with your intuition, suspend judgements, and just see what comes together!

When looking through magazines or other print materials, just scan and notice. Notice which words somewhat "pop" out at you or pique interest and collect them. Once you have a little pile, start to organize and arrange them on a piece of paper or other backing until satisfied and glue down.

Bonus Journal Prompts:
✨️What do the words describe? My goals, my interests, my current state of mind?
✨️Do I notice any patterns in the words I chose? Describe and ponder those patterns.
✨️What did I notice in my internal world as I selected words and arranged them? Was it hard to enjoy the process and stay curious? Did my internal critic have a hard time, or did I notice some other part wanting to interject?
✨️If I could draw meaning from this collage and sum it up in one sentence, what would that sentence say?

Not everything is “just stress.” And not everything needs to be called trauma either.

These words get used interchangeably, but they point to different experiences in the body.

When you can feel the difference, you can respond with more care and less pressure to push
through.

As the days get longer and warmer, summer is just around the corner. While summer brings
freedom and flexibility, it can also introduce new challenges for children, teens, and families.

Healthy boundaries offer structure that supports emotional safety, connection, and smoother
daily transitions. When paired with routines, boundaries can help summer feel more balanced,
grounded, and less chaotic.

DID YOU KNOW

Making art can measurably decrease cortisol levels?

AND, besides finding art making relaxing and physiologically stress reducing, participants in a Drexel University study also reported that the art-making process was enjoyable and insightful, helping them explore new aspects of themselves. They described it as liberating and engaging—often involving an initial struggle followed by a sense of resolution. Many experienced a state of ✨️flow✨️ becoming fully immersed in their work. The session also sparked a strong desire to continue making art in the future!

✨️FLOW STATE✨️ a deeply engaging mental state of concentration, offers numerous benefits, including increased happiness, improved performance, and enhanced creativity. It can also lead to greater intrinsic motivation, improved skill development, and a sense of fulfillment.
