Back-to-school season means new classrooms, new routines… and a great time to make sure your child is seeing their best!📚✏️🎒

Vision plays an important role in how children learn, read, focus, and interact with the world around them. When a child struggles to see clearly or comfortably, the signs aren’t always as obvious as saying, “I can’t see.”

Frequent eye rubbing, squinting, sitting too close to screens, difficulty concentrating, avoiding reading or homework, and even struggles in the classroom can sometimes signal that a child’s vision deserves a closer look.

That’s why a comprehensive eye exam is such an important part of preparing for the school year. An eye exam evaluates more than just how clearly your child can see; it helps identify vision concerns that may otherwise go unnoticed.

As backpacks get packed and pencils get sharpened, don’t forget to add healthy vision to your back-to-school checklist!

Schedule your child’s comprehensive eye exam today and help give them the clear, comfortable vision they need to take on the school year with confidence. 👓✨

👓 August is Children’s Eye Health & Safety Month! 💙

A child’s vision plays a crucial role in how they learn, grow, play, and experience the world around them. From reading in the classroom to catching a ball on the playground, healthy vision supports every stage of a child’s physical, cognitive, and social development.

According to the World Health Organization, an estimated 2.2 billion people worldwide have some form of vision impairment, and it’s estimated at least 1 billion of those cases are children.

When vision problems in children go undetected, they can interfere with learning, delay development, affect confidence, and in some cases, even lead to permanent vision loss. The good news is that many childhood vision conditions can be successfully managed when they’re identified early.

At North Shore Eye, we’re proud to provide comprehensive care for children of all ages and with conditions such as:
👁️ Amblyopia (Lazy Eye)
👁️ Strabismus (Eye Turn)
👁️ Myopia (Nearsightedness)
👁️ Hyperopia (Farsightedness)
👁️ Astigmatism

This month, we encourage parents and caregivers to make their child’s eye health a priority. A comprehensive eye exam is one of the most important steps you can take to ensure your child has the clear, healthy vision they need to thrive both in and out of the classroom.

Because every child deserves the opportunity to see their world clearly!

Dry eye relief starts with understanding the cause, not just treating the symptoms.

If your eyes constantly feel dry, gritty, tired, watery, or your vision seems to fluctuate throughout the day, you’re not alone. Dry eye disease affects millions of people, and in many cases, the underlying cause is meibomian gland dysfunction (MGD). These tiny glands along your eyelids produce the protective oil layer of your tears. When they become blocked or stop functioning properly, your tears evaporate too quickly, leaving your eyes feeling irritated and uncomfortable.

While artificial tears can offer temporary relief, they often don’t address why your eyes are dry.

That’s why at North Shore Eye Health & Wellness, we focus on treating the root cause of dry eye with advanced, personalized care. We offer a variety of in-office treatments, including:

💧 IPL (Intense Pulsed Light)
💧 Radiofrequency (RF)
💧 LipiFlow
💧 NuLids
💧 LLLT (Low-Level Light Therapy)
💧 BlephEx

Because every patient’s dry eye is different, every treatment plan starts with a comprehensive evaluation. By identifying what’s contributing to your symptoms, we can recommend the therapies that best support healthier tear production, improved gland function, and long-lasting relief.

And as an added bonus, treatments like IPL don’t just benefit your eyes. They may also help reduce facial redness, improve skin tone, and stimulate collagen production, giving your skin a refreshed appearance while supporting healthier eyes.

You don’t have to settle for temporary relief or think dry eye is just something you have to live with. Your journey to healthier, more comfortable eyes starts here, and we’re here to help every step of the way.

Schedule your dry eye evaluation today and let’s get to the root of the problem together!

Vision therapy isn’t just for kids.

After a concussion or sports-related head injury, many adults continue to struggle with symptoms like headaches, dizziness, blurred vision, difficulty focusing, or trouble tracking moving objects.

Vision therapy is a personalized program that helps retrain the connection between the eyes and the brain, improving visual skills that are often affected after an injury.

If you haven’t felt quite the same since a concussion, your vision may be part of the puzzle. Our team is here to help you get back to doing what you love.

📞 Contact our office at (262) 421-4412 to learn if vision therapy or a NeuroVisual Medicine evaluation may be right for you.

💙 July 23 is World Sjögren’s Day 💙

Millions of people live with Sjögren’s syndrome, yet many go years without a diagnosis because its symptoms can be mistaken for other conditions.

Sjögren’s is an autoimmune disease that attacks the body’s moisture-producing glands, often leading to:
✨ Dry, gritty, or burning eyes
✨ Dry mouth
✨ Persistent fatigue
✨ Joint pain

While there is currently no cure, early diagnosis and proper treatment can make a significant difference in managing symptoms and protecting long-term eye health.

If you’ve been struggling with chronic dry eyes that don’t seem to improve, it may be worth talking to your eye doctor. Sometimes, dry eye is more than just dry eye.

At North Shore Eye Health & Wellness, we’re here to help evaluate your symptoms and develop a personalized treatment plan to keep your eyes as healthy and comfortable as possible.

📞 Have questions about dry eye or Sjögren’s? Call our office at (262) 421-4412. We’re here to help.

Big win on the field, and clear vision every step of the way!🏆

For active kids, sports and outdoor adventures shouldn’t come with the worry of broken glasses or daytime contact lenses. That’s where CRT (Corneal Refractive Therapy) lenses can make a difference!

CRT lenses are specially designed to be worn while your child sleeps. Overnight, they gently reshape the front surface of the eye so they can enjoy clear vision throughout the day, often without needing glasses or contacts.

Even better? CRT lenses can also help slow the progression of nearsightedness (myopia) in many children, protecting their vision for the future.

Whether they’re scoring the winning goal, making the perfect catch, or simply enjoying recess with friends, CRT lenses can help kids stay focused on what matters most: having fun!

Interested in learning if CRT lenses are right for your child? We’d love to help! Give our office a call at (262) 421-4412 to learn more today!

✨ New Dry Eye Treatment Available! ✨

If your eyes constantly feel dry, gritty, watery, or irritated, we have another option to help you find lasting relief.

We’re excited to now offer the NuLids® PROcedure as part of our comprehensive dry eye treatment program! This gentle in-office treatment helps clean the eyelid margins and remove debris, biofilm, and buildup around the meibomian glands, which play an essential role in keeping your tears healthy. Healthy eyelids are the foundation of healthy tears, and for many patients, improving eyelid hygiene is an important step toward reducing dry eye symptoms.

Because every case of dry eye is unique, our doctors create personalized treatment plans that may include therapies like IPL, Radiofrequency, LLLT, LipiFlow, NuLids, and at-home care recommendations.

If you’ve been relying on eye drops without lasting relief, it may be time to treat the source of the problem instead of just the symptoms.

📞 Give our office a call at (262) 421-4412 to schedule a dry eye evaluation and find out if the NuLids® PROcedure is right for you!
