As my clients have heard me preach a gazillion times, long, slow breathing can be a helpful tool when feeling overwhelmed/dysregulated. Box breathing is just one example of how to do it.

Happy National Dog Day! ♥️

Did you know research shows that simply petting a dog can decrease levels of the stress hormone cortisol and increase levels of the feel-good hormone oxytocin? And a recent study from the University of Denver suggests that dogs help people to regulate stress even more than previously believed! Pretty amazing! 🐶🐶

Repost DU Professional Psychology
・・・
Colorado’s food and beverage workers spend so much of their time taking care of others. Now, there’s support for them, too.

The Graduate School of Professional Psychology is proud to partner with the Southern Smoke Foundation to bring Behind You to Colorado—offering eligible food and beverage workers up to 20 no-cost counseling sessions with GSPP graduate student clinicians working under licensed supervision.

Sessions are available in person, via telehealth, or both, making it easier to find support that fits around the realities of working in the industry.

💬 “So often, that first step is the hardest to take,” says Noelle Lefforge, GSPP Director of Clinical Services. “Reaching out and feeling like you deserve that sort of help—that’s what we’re here to do.”

✨ Who’s eligible?
Colorado food and beverage workers who have been employed in the industry for at least six months and work approximately 30 hours per week.

📣 Applications are open now.

Learn more about Behind You, check eligibility, and apply through the link in our bio.

"Crossword puzzles and brain teasers have long been touted as ways to keep the mind sharp. But a new study points to another strategy that may matter just as much: staying fast on your feet.

Researchers have found that people in their 80s who maintain an exceptionally quick walking pace, dubbed 'super movers,' are also far more likely to stay mentally sharp compared to their slower-moving peers of the same age."

"Whether you love or loathe generative AI chatbots, they’re becoming increasingly involved in the business of romance.

There’s understandable skepticism about the technology’s place in dating. Still, a growing number of people are turning to AI as a de facto dating coach or relationship expert. Some use the technology to get guidance on creating a dating app profile, decode messages from potential partners and draft replies or seek general dating advice.

But those inquiries can have varying degrees of success. Understanding how to best harness a chatbot’s power and acknowledging its limitations can help.

Here are some tips from experts."
