A facelift can create meaningful change, but it doesn’t address everything.
We’re often asked if a facelift will improve the area around the mouth. The more accurate answer is understanding what a facelift is designed to treat, and what it’s not.
A facelift focuses on the lower and middle face areas. It lifts sagging through the jawline, improves definition, and softens deeper folds. It restores youthful structure where tissue has descended over time.
But the area around the mouth, what we call the perioral region (the skin and tissue surrounding the lips), behaves differently.
A facelift does not significantly change lip shape, volume, or the fine lines that form directly around the mouth. Lifting the face does not translate to changes in the lips.
When that area is a concern, it often requires its own approach. Treatments like skin resurfacing, fat transfer, or a lip lift are designed to target those specific changes more precisely.
It’s not about doing more. It’s about choosing the right treatment for each area.
