🌳 Happy Father's Day to all the dads, grandfathers, and father figures out there!

Fatherhood means showing up — for school drop-offs, late-night worries, and everything in between. But caring for your family starts with caring for yourself too.
This year, we encourage every dad to prioritize his own well-being: schedule that overdue dental cleaning, talk to someone if you're feeling overwhelmed, and don't skip your annual physical. Your health is just as important as the people you're caring for.
From all of us at MyCare Health Center — medical, dental, and behavioral health, all under one roof — happy Father's Day. 💙

Yesterday in Clinton Township, MyCare's CEO Karen Wood joined Brent Wirth, CEO of Easterseals MORC , in a roundtable discussion with U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. and other HHS representatives. The roundtable focused on the Certified Community Behavioral Health Clinic (CCBHC) program, highlighting MyCare's collaboration with Easterseals MORC to provide physical health services to CCBHC participants while Easterseals delivers addiction and behavioral health services. The discussion helped spotlight MyCare Health Center’s pivotal role as a safety net provider, collaborating with other organizations to meet the growing needs of our community. Following the roundtable discussion, Secretary Kennedy held a press conference to announce over $700 million in new funding to address mental illness, addiction, and homelessness. Congratulations to Tanisha McCray for being selected as MyCare's Employee Spotlight winner for the month of May! Tanisha serves as a Community Health Worker for the Connection 2 Care program at MyCare. She is passionate about helping others and takes great pride in assisting clients as they work toward and achieve their goals. Family is extremely important to Tanisha, and she loves them dearly. Outside of work, she enjoys gardening and finds her greatest happiness while working in her yard. A fun fact about Tanisha is that she is a twin. She lives by the inspiring quote, “Believe you can and you're halfway there,” by Theodore Roosevelt.

It’s hard to believe we’re already nearing the halfway mark of 2026! We want to give a huge thank you to all our amazing volunteers. Your time and dedication make everything we do possible here at the food bank.

With a new month comes a new Mobile Food Pantry schedule. Here is our June schedule. All distributions are from 10 a.m. – noon. If you have any questions, feel free to leave a comment below or send us a DM.

•6/16 Lawrence Park - 7000 E. 10 Mile Road, Center Line
•6/18 Max Thompson Center - 11370 Hupp Ave., Warren
•6/23 MyCare – 18 Market Street, Mount Clemens

In addition to our mobile pantry, the Community Food Bank of Macomb County partners with local pantries to distribute food throughout the County. You can find a list of our partners here: bit.ly/45VFHvq.

💡What to expect at the distribution:
When you arrive, our volunteers will ask a few questions. Everything is based on self-disclosure. You’ll be asked for your name, whether you’re a Michigan resident, how many people are in your household and how you qualify.
Eligibility can be based on several factors, such as income, participation in assistance programs, or simply an urgent need for food.
If you are arriving by car, you may remain in your vehicle and volunteers will load items for you. Walk-up guests are welcome and can check in with a volunteer for assistance.

May is Lyme Disease Awareness Month.

Tick season is here in Southeast Michigan and they are rampant! Lyme disease is the most common tick-borne illness in the U.S., and Michigan residents are at real risk — especially during warmer months when ticks are most active.

🔍 Know the signs:
• A bull's-eye rash at the site of a tick bite
• Fever, chills, and fatigue
• Muscle or joint aches
• Headache

Early detection makes all the difference. When caught quickly, Lyme disease is treatable with simple antibiotics — and most people recover fully.

🌿 Protect yourself:
✔ Wear long sleeves and pants in wooded or grassy areas
✔ Use EPA-approved insect repellent
✔ Check for ticks after spending time outdoors
✔ Remove ticks promptly with fine-tipped tweezers --Be sure to get the head of the tick and pull straight up!
