A little throwback to one of our favorite projects.

Our members took an old comment box and gave it a complete makeover; taking it apart, painting it, cleaning up the hardware, and putting it all back together.

This is the kind of stuff we love. Getting everyone involved, working together, learning along the way, and ending up with something we can actually use.

And yes, that comment box is still going strong. 😂

Being productive can be pretty fun around here.

So what exactly is Community Hab?

Community Hab is one-on-one support that helps people build the skills they need to be more independent at home and in their community.

And it doesn't have to look like sitting at a table working on “skills.”

It can be grocery shopping and learning to stick to a budget. Planning and making a meal. Working on household responsibilities. Getting to appointments. Building a routine. Learning how to navigate the community. Practicing social skills. Or working toward an individual goal that's important to that person.

The whole point is to work on real-life skills in real-life situations.

We are currently accepting Community Hab referrals in:

📍 Knoxville
📍 Pella
📍 Albia
📍 Centerville

Interested in services or not sure if Community Hab would be a good fit? Don’t live in one of the areas listed? Reach out anyway! We’re always looking at opportunities to expand our services and may be able to help.

What does Happy Home Services actually do?

It looks different for every person we serve.

Some days it might be learning to cook a meal or working on skills at home. Other days it might be trying something new, getting out into the community, spending time with others, or just having a really good day.

Behind all of it is the same goal - helping the people we serve build skills, become more independent, and be active in their communities.

Happy Home Services offers Community Hab, Day Hab, HAB house services, ID Skill SCL, and Respite for children.

And if you have no idea what any of those services mean or which one you need - that's okay. You don't have to figure it out before reaching out.

It’s DSP Week! 💚

We want to take a minute to recognize all of the DSPs at Happy Home Services and say THANK YOU!

Our DSPs are the ones showing up every day, helping our members work toward their goals, become more independent, get out into the community, and just be there for the everyday things that matter.

This job isn’t always easy, and we know there are a lot of things you do that don’t always get recognized.

We appreciate each and every one of you and everything you do for our members. We truly couldn’t do what we do without you.
