Forgiveness moves in three directions:
Upward — embracing the forgiveness God offers us.
Inward — extending that same grace and forgiveness to ourselves.
Outward — choosing forgiveness and pursuing reconciliation with others.
But these aren’t three separate paths. They’re connected.
When we struggle to receive God’s forgiveness, we often struggle to forgive ourselves. When we refuse ourselves grace, extending it to others becomes harder. And bitterness toward others can distort how we see both ourselves and God.
Forgiveness has to keep moving—upward, inward, and outward.
When one direction gets blocked, eventually the others suffer too.
