A little bright news for this gloomy day! Bethany Village has been named the 2026 Greater Dayton Nonprofit of the Year for Independent Living by Dayton Magazine 🏆✨

This community-voted recognition reflects the people and relationships that make our community such a vibrant place to live.

We couldn’t share this photo without giving a special shoutout to four members of our Independent Living team: Resident Event Coordinators Cindy and Jennifer, and Senior Living Counselors Anne and Amy! From welcoming new neighbors to creating opportunities to gather, explore and enjoy life together, they each play an important role in making life at Bethany .

Some people simply bring a little sunshine wherever they go — and at 102, Jeanne Dougan is one of them!

A former member of the Bethany Singers, Jeanne still loves raising her voice during music therapy and hymn sings. She enjoys participating in activities with friends and appreciating life’s little pleasures — including a good manicure 💅🎶🎂

After 102 years, she says one memorable invention stands out: air conditioning 🙌

“People think as we age our world gets smaller, but that’s the exact opposite of what happens. There’s downsizing of material goods, but our spirits as we age are still growing. We are constantly evolving.” Suzzy Nandrasy, Bethany Village Life Enrichment Manager, shared these truths when she competed in May at Story Slam Dayton, a monthly community building event at The Brightside Music & Event Venue where local storytellers compete on a common theme. The theme was “Making a Difference in Dayton,” something our staff at Bethany Village do every day.
