Sharon Sue Copeland

Sharon Sue Copeland, née McGill, passed away on August 21, 2026, in Jefferson, Texas. Born on December 6, 1944, in Madison County, Texas, Sharon’s life was one deeply rooted in family and community.

Throughout her 81 years, Sharon worked as an insurance agent. She embraced many past-times including flower gardening, antique shopping, and travelling, as well as singing and dancing, where she put her talents to use as a singer on the Louisiana Hayride, a famous live radio barn dance and variety show broadcast from the Shreveport Municipal Memorial auditorium from 1948-1960.

Sharon's journey began in the heart of Madison County, where she was the beloved daughter of Henry Alvin McGill and Clara Bell Poteet McGill. Sharon’s upbringing shaped her into a person of remarkable compassion and quiet strength—a legacy that remained with her throughout her life.

Sharon’s family meant the world to her. She was preceded in death by both of her parents; her devoted husband, Shelton Copeland; and her cherished daughter, Tammy Copeland. She also mourned the loss of her siblings: her brother, Alvin McGill, and sisters, Virginia McGill and Vera Lee Dodson. In losing Sharon, the community and all who knew her also mourn the passing of an era marked by her presence.

Those left to cherish Sharon's memory are sons, Don and Nancy Copeland, Kenneth and Candy Copeland and Kevin and Robin Copeland; daughter, Daphne Copeland; sister, Mary Lou Daniels; grandchildren, Dustin and Angelica Griffith, Brent Griffith, Cassidy and Justin Grigsby, Tara Copeland, Shelton and Sydney Copeland, Jacob Kindley, Lindsey Sapp, Amber Sapp, Koby Copeland, Cole and Gentry Copeland, Tristan Dupuis, Tyler Dupuis, Kessler Matlock, Gracie Yellott, Luke and Pamela Yellott, and Spencer Yellott; great-grandchildren, Cillian Griffith, Lainie Burch, Raeleigh Griffith, Skylen Copeland, Colton Mixon, Bailey Grigsby, Allison Grigsby, Haley Denton, Braden Denton, Lucy Sims, Cason Kindley, Everly Kindley, Hadley Kindley, Knoxly Kindley, Kirby Copeland, Connor Procell, Abby Harvey, Aiden Harvey, Sofia Aguire, Max Hamiter and Guinevere Yellott; and great-great-grandchild, Hudson Burch, as well as numerous extended family and friends.

Few individuals can say they lived a life that touched as many as Sharon’s did, and her roots ran deep within her family and among friends. While her closest loved ones have gone before her, the impressions she left—bonded through generations—remain vivid and profound.

Sharon’s legacy will endure in the memories of those who knew her strength of character and unwavering sense of loyalty. The lessons she imparted and the warmth she brought to every occasion are woven into the history of her family and the places she called home.

Funeral services to honor the life of Sharon Sue Copeland will be held at Walters' Buffalo Funeral Home, Buffalo, Texas on Monday, August 24, 2026, beginning at 4 P.M. Interment will follow in Winn Cemetery, near Marquez, Texas.

As her community gathers to remember and celebrate her life, Sharon Sue Copeland will be remembered for her dignified spirit and the love she so freely gave. Her memory will be cherished always.

Patricia Ann Talmadge Sherbrook

Patricia Ann Talmadge Sherbrook was born on August 19, 1932, in Nacogdoches, Texas, and passed away peacefully on August 19, 2026, in Pasadena, Texas. She was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother whose life was filled with love and joy. Pat will be remembered for her love of family, her infectious laughter, captivating spirit, and creative talent. Though we grieve her loss, we celebrate the faithful life she lived on this earth.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Era and Tritous Talmadge; her in-laws, Leona and Harland Dean Sherbrook; her loving husband, Robert Dean "Bob" Sherbrook; brother, Oliver Talmadge and his wife, Dollie; sister, Elizabeth Talmadge Ogden; and brother-in law, Duane Sherbrook, and his wife, Gloria.

After graduating from Nacogdoches High School in 1949, Pat went on to earn her bachelor's degree from Stephen F. Austin State College where she was a member of the Pine Burrs (Chi Omega Sorority). After college, she moved to Freeport, Texas in 1952. "This was a lucky move," she shared, because it was there that she met the love of her life, Robert Sherbrook, a tall "handsome" young man who had come to Freeport from Midland, Michigan with his family. His father, Harland D. Sherbrook, known as the "Dow Builder," was sent there to help manage the construction of the Dow Chemical plants on the Gulf Coast. After their marriage, they started their family in Freeport with Lou Ann first, and later Elizabeth. After six years, they chose Deer Park, Texas as their new home and soon welcomed their son, Robert.

Throughout her teaching career, Pat worked as a kindergarten teacher at Brazosport ISD and taught English at Houston ISD. After relocating with her family to Centerville, Texas, she became an AP English and literature instructor at Centerville ISD. In addition to teaching, Pat was an accomplished poet who devoted herself to writing throughout her lifetime. Her students loved and respected her. One of her favorites never failed to call her yearly on the "Ides of March" to reminisce about their Shakespearean studies and Julius Caesar.

Pat became a Christian at an early age and was a faithful member of the Church of Christ. She dedicated herself to her family, friends, teaching Bible classes, and helping families in need by preparing meals. Pat had a deep faith in God and his promise for an eternal life in heaven. Pat's poetry drew inspiration from scripture and was shaped by the wonders of God's magnificent creation-the earth, sky, moon, stars, and rainbows in the sky. But, most of all, she loved the Piney Woods of East Texas. While pointing out the huge pines and dogwoods on family trips, she once saw a rainbow, and immediately quoted, "The heavens declare the glory of God; the skies proclaim the work of his hands" (Psalm 19:1). Her love of poetry evolved into her own vast personal collection of poems and epitaphs. Several of her poems were recently discovered by her children, some written while in her nineties. Pat was a member of the San Jacinto Poetry Society of Texas, and was awarded First Place for her poem entitled, "Parent's Lamentation" written after the tragic death of a toddler. One of her proudest achievements was authoring and copyrighting a gospel hymn "Twas His Blood That Paid the Price," arranged by Anne Stevens.

Together, Pat and Bob '49, spent many of their most memorable years tailgating with family and friends at Texas A&M football games and in their later years enjoyed watching their grandsons play football on Kyle Field. They enjoyed watching Robert's basketball games, attending grandkids' sporting events, and sharing special times with her grandchildren and "great ones."

Pat is survived by her loving children, Lou Ann McKinney & her husband, Dr. Mike McKinney of Bryan; Elizabeth Sledge & her husband, Roland Sledge of Houston; Robert Sherbrook of Deer Park; and Chris Sherbrook of Houston.

She is also survived by her beloved grandchildren, Stephen McKinney & wife, Tiffany; Seth McKinney & wife, Paige; Sean McKinney & wife, Shannon; Lauren Tata & husband, Jordan; and Caroline Kosman & husband, Michael. Additionally, she is survived by thirteen great-grandchildren: Jordan Elliott & husband, Blake, Grace Perrizo & husband, Jack, Hunter McKinney; Kate McKinney and fiancé, Khristian Curtis, Abigail, and Hannah McKinney; Lincoln Tata; Dawson, Isabelle, Evelyn, & Wade McKinney; and Claire & Micah Kozman all of whom she adored; and by many loving nieces and nephews: Neal Talmadge, Melissa Kutta, Amanda White, Bradley Sherbrook, Karen Batchman, Phillip Sherbrook and families. A special thank you to Dr. John Kirkwood, Affinity Home Health Care, Scott, Janis, and Rita.

A celebration of Patricia's life will be held 2 P.M., Sunday, August 23, 2026, at Walters Funeral Home, Centerville, Texas. A private interment will follow in Centerville Cemetery. Prior to the service, a brief visitation will take place from 12:30 P.M. to service time at the funeral home. Victor White will officiate the service. Dr. Mike McKinney and Boyd King will also speak, and Evan White will lead the congregational music.

David Reid Wells

David Reid Wells, age 88, passed away on August 18, 2026. Born on November 14, 1937, in Centerville, Texas, David lived a life defined by service, hard work, family, and friendship. He proudly served in the United States Army before building a successful career with Ethyl Corporation in Pasadena, Texas. David was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Carolyn Wells, and is survived by his son, Emmitt Reid Wells and wife, Lisa; daughter, Jennifer Ruth Harris-Manier and husband, Mark; brother, Fred Wells; grandchildren, Jason Wells, Kara Salliotte, Eryn Harris, Cole Harris, and Kailyn Manier; and great-grandchildren, Arielle Salliotte, Logan Wells, Lincoln Wells, and Jude Salliotte.

David never lost his deep connection to his hometown of Centerville, where he loved spending time at his cherished property and enthusiastically giving tours to family, friends, and anyone interested in sharing his appreciation for the land he loved. Known for his warmth, generosity, and genuine enjoyment of people, he built lasting friendships wherever he went. He also enjoyed life's simple pleasures, especially gathering with loved ones at a fish fry or at the domino table sharing stories and laughter. David leaves behind a legacy of love, dedication, and kindness that will continue to live on through the many family members and friends who were blessed to know him.

Donald Alvin Bright

Donald Alvin Bright, beloved husband, father, brother, and Papa, passed away on August 14, 2026, in Waco, Texas. He was born on March 5, 1953, in Houston, Texas, and spent his life sharing warmth and kindness with all who knew him.

Donald’s life was defined by his deep devotion to family and his enduring love for the outdoors. He found profound joy in fishing, hunting, and anything that allowed him to be surrounded by nature. These were more than hobbies for Donald—they were opportunities for connection, reflection, and treasured memories enjoyed alongside loved ones. Whether casting a line at first light or sitting beneath open skies, he found peace and fulfillment in the wonders of the natural world.

Donald had a fondness for old westerns—especially Gunsmoke and Bonanza—and was an ardent admirer of John Wayne’s legendary films. Donald also took pleasure in watching wrestling on television, and boy, did Donald love his wrestling! All of Donald's beloved television shows were most often watched with the sound turned up too loud, much to the discomfort those who happened to be in the same room.

Family was the cornerstone of Donald’s life. He formed wonderful bonds with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. His family will lovingly miss Donald making sure that everything was done "Papa's Way," the endless buggy rides, feeding the cows, and checking everything out on the property with a large cup of sweet tea never far out of reach.

Donald is survived by his wife, Debra Bright, whose partnership formed the bedrock of many meaningful years; his daughter, Jennifer Bush, who carries forward his legacy; and his sisters, Linda Eubanks (Randy), Marlene Hopkins (Bill), and Teresa Buckley (Cliff), who shared in many chapters of his life. His memory will also be cherished by his grandchildren—Chad, Tyler, Triston, Jacie, Bailey, and Sadie-Lynn—and great-grandchildren—Mitchell, Wyatt, Addison, Karsyn, and Waylon—each of whom brought him pride and unyielding joy.

Donald was preceded in death by his mother, Dorothy (Cooper) Bright; his father, H. A. Bright; and his cherished daughters, Sandra Denise Bright and Tracie Lynn Trible. Their memories remained close to his heart, and their spirits will continue to guide and comfort those who mourn his loss.

Those who knew Donald will remember his steadfast nature, generous spirit, and unwavering loyalty. His presence was a source of strength, and his memory will be forever treasured by family and friends.

Carrie Lynn Dazey

Carrie Dazey, lovingly known by her family and friends as “MeeMee,” passed away unexpectedly on August 12, 2026, at the age of 59, following an automobile accident. She was born on March 31, 1967, in Pasadena, Texas, and lived in Flo, Texas.

Carrie was the kind of person who could light up a room simply by being herself. She was fun, outgoing, full of life, and had a heart that seemed big enough to love everyone she met. She had a way of making people feel welcome, loved, and like they were part of her family. To know Carrie was to know just how deeply she loved the people in her life.

Her family was her world, especially her grandchildren. She was a special wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, and she loved her family with everything she had. Her grandchildren knew that whenever they were in trouble, MeeMee might tell them she was going to “take them around the mulberry bush.” Those are the little memories that will live on and keep her spirit close for years to come.

Carrie had a love for life and knew how to have a good time. She loved the beach, the lake, concerts, and spending time with the people she loved. She was a devoted Kid Rock fan and jokingly considered herself his “secret wife.” Her sense of humor and fun-loving personality were just part of what made her so unforgettable.

Carrie spent many years working as a nurse before eventually becoming a waitress. During her time working at I-45 Coffee Shop in Fairfield, Texas, she met some of her closest and dearest friends. At the time of her passing, Carrie was volunteering at the local food pantry and working at Family Dollar in Centerville, Texas. Helping others was simply part of who she was.

Carrie leaves behind her beloved husband, Leonard Ridenour; her son, Rusty Dazey of Franklin, Texas; and her daughter, Tiffaney Page of Mexia, Texas. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Jordan Dazey, Katelynn Dazey, Jacob Boyd, and Roper Dazey; mother-in-law, Mary Ridenour; sisters-in-law, Mary Ann Fields and Gail Keefer (Jeff); and brothers-in-law, Tony Ridenour and Daniel Ridenour (Tammy), along with numerous adopted-by-heart grandchildren, nieces, nephews, friends, and countless others who were lucky enough to know and love her.

She is also survived by her brothers, Randy Currie of Lake Limestone and Russ Allen of Teague, Texas.

Carrie was preceded in death by her parents; her adopted-by-heart parents, Helen Currie and Fred Currie; her sister, Debby Bowman; her brother, Johnny Bradford; and her father-in-law, Leonard Weldon Ridenour, Sr.

Carrie’s greatest gift was the way she loved. She never needed a reason to care about someone, and her enormous heart had room for everyone. She leaves behind a lifetime of memories, laughter, stories, and love that will continue through the people she touched.

Though her time with us was far too short, the love she gave was immeasurable. MeeMee will be deeply missed, forever loved, and never forgotten. Her family and friends will carry her memory with them—in every laugh, every song, every trip to the lake, every concert, and every moment spent together.

A celebration of life for Carrie “MeeMee” Dazey will be held on September 12, 2026, at Lake Limestone Park 2, from 10 A.M. until dusk.

All who knew and loved Carrie are welcome and encouraged to attend as we come together to celebrate her life, share memories, laugh, cry, and honor the incredible woman she was.

Danny Cupit, Jr.

With hearts full of both sorrow for his passing and deep gratitude for his remarkable presence in our lives, we remember and celebrate Danny Cupit, Jr., who left this world on August 17, 2026, in Marquez, Texas. Born on January 14, 1970, in Trinity, Texas, Danny spent a lifetime deeply rooted in the soil and spirit of Leon County, forming bonds with family and friends that will never fade.

To those who loved him, Danny was more than just his well-earned nickname, the "Crappie King." He was a devoted husband, loving father, doting grandfather, cherished son, loyal brother, and a steadfast friend. His greatest pride and joy was found in his family, whom he cherished deeply and loved unconditionally.

Whether spending time with his wife of thirty years, Susan, glowing with pride as a father to Taylor Cupit (Britnee) and Kelbee Cupit (Avery), or laughing alongside his beloved grandchildren-Asher Cupit, Royal "R.J." Cupit, and Mabree Cupit-Danny's heart was forever at home when surrounded by those he loved.

Danny's circle of loved ones spanned far beyond immediate family. He is survived by his father, Danny Cupit, Sr.; sisters, Peggy Ivey (Mark), Loretta Chambers (Kyle), and Juanette Henley (Jimmy); brothers-in-law, Michael Walker and Adam Walker (Stephanie); and, of course, the family's loyal pit bull, Legion, whom Danny fondly called his third child. Numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family, and a host of special friends also feel the weight of loss at his passing but will lovingly keep his memory alive.

He joins in heaven those who preceded him in death: his dearly missed mother, Mary Cupit; his grandmother, Ellen Thompson; and his step-mother, Betty Cupit.

Those who knew Danny will always remember his deep patriotism and the pride he felt for his country. He was, at his core, a provider and a caretaker-working most of his life as a train operator for Luminant/Vistra. Danny's work ethic and loyalty to his community were only matched by his profound love for nature. An avid fisherman gifted with that certain magic earning him the "Crappie King" title, Danny delighted in teaching loved ones his secrets of the water. Hunting was another abiding passion, treasured in hours spent under open skies in the company of family and friends.

Danny's zest for life showed in every pursuit-on the dance floor where he was known for his moves; in the backyard playing washers and co****le, often with equipment he crafted himself for the pure joy of sharing; or in the casinos, indulging in the thrill of a good gamble. These pleasures, large and small, were never about the activities alone but the laughter, camaraderie, and cherished togetherness they fostered.

Yet through all his adventures, Danny's truest fulfillment-the legacy he would most want remembered-rests firmly with his family. Whether spoiling his grandkids, lending a hand to a sibling, or welcoming a friend as if they were kin, he gave of himself without reservation. His home was always open, his smile always ready, his heart always present.

The community is invited to gather and honor Danny's life with visitation on Thursday, August 20, 2026, from 6 P.M. to 8 P.M. at Walters' Buffalo Funeral Home, Buffalo, Texas. A funeral service celebrating Danny will commence at 11 A.M. on Friday, August 21, 2026, at Marquez Baptist Church, Marquez, Texas.

Gary D. Bladen, Sr.

Gary Deliance Bladen was born on December 15, 1964, to Bobbie Gene Bladen and Wilbert Baker. He was a graduate of Centerville High School, Class of 1983. Gary was a long-time caretaker of many local churches and cemeteries. He was employed by Madisonville C.I.S.D. for many years and want on to Centerville I.S.D. where he upheld many duties, such as transportation director, maintenance technician and was a longstanding bus driver to many children, from which he retired. Gary also held a position as a Boy Scout Troop Leader to Troop 6222 of Leon County. He became a member of Ebeneezer Baptist Church at an early age where he also took on the roll of an ordained Deacon, as well as Sunday school teacher for many years until his health failed him. Gary enjoyed spending time with his wife, children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, as well as watching Sunday football with his son-in-law, Jason. He will be greatly missed by all.

Gary passed away August 14, 2026, in Bryan, Texas He was preceded in death by his late wife, Annie Bladen; grandparents, Alson and Beatrice Bladen; and father Clifton Bowens. Surviving family members are his mother, Bobbie Bowens of Dallas; wife, Sharon Bladen of Centerville; son, Gary Bladen Jr. (wife, Brittney) of Buffalo; daughter, Jeanette Ford (husband, Jason) of Centerville; son, Ryan Irwin (wife, Karyn) of Tacoma Washington; son, Randall Roberts of Tacoma, Washington; and sister, Andrea Bowens of Dallas. Gary is also survived by his grandchildren, Andre' Bartley, Cameron Williams, Gavin Ford, Ashlyn Williams, Levi Bladen, Lena Bladen, Lillianna Myers-Irwin, and Alaric Myers-Irwin; great-grandchildren, Khaidyn Jurode and Khaliana Jurode; special niece and nephew, Lakita Proctor and Ethridge Brooks, as well as numerous other nieces, nephews, and extended family members.

A homegoing service celebrating Gary's life will be held 2 P.M., Saturday, August 22, 2026, at LIFEChurch, Leona, Texas. Interment will follow in Ward Cemetery. A visitation is scheduled from 6 P.M. to 8 P.M. on Friday, August 21, 2026, at Ebeneezer Baptist Church, Centerville, Texas.
