Lately I have been noticing the psychic weight that life can place upon the body, the mind, and the spirit. Not always from one major event, but from the slow accumulation of years. Carrying responsibilities, caring deeply for others, holding grief quietly, overthinking, trying to remain strong, trying to understand everything, trying to hold together every loose thread of life.
Sometimes the heaviness arrives so gradually that I do not even notice how much has settled inside me until I finally pause long enough to feel the density of my own breath.
I am beginning to notice that not everything I carry truly belongs to me. Some burdens were absorbed through love. Some through fear. Some through habit. Some through simply being sensitive to the emotional undercurrents of the world around me.
There comes a moment when the body quietly asks for release.
Not through force. Not through escaping life. Not through pretending everything feels light when certain seasons feel genuinely heavy. But through softening. Through awareness. Through allowing movement again where energy has become stagnant.
I notice how healing begins when I stop trying to solve my entire life all at once. Peace does not always arrive through answers. Sometimes peace arrives through loosening my grip on every thought, every fear, every outcome, every old identity that no longer reflects who I am becoming.
The nervous system speaks honestly. The shoulders tighten. The jaw clenches. The stomach contracts. The breath becomes shallow. The body carries stories the mind has not fully released.
And yet nature continues teaching me how to let go.
Trees release leaves without panic. Rivers continue flowing around every obstacle. The earth receives what has fallen and transforms decay into nourishment for new growth.
Perhaps human beings were never meant to hold every experience forever.
Tonight I want to remember that release can happen gently. Through breath. Through stillness. Through movement. Through drumming. Through laughter with people I love. Through sitting beneath trees. Through allowing myself to feel what has remained unfelt.
I do not need to carry every moment forever.
Some things can simply move through me and continue on their way.
