Edwin D. “Eddie” Cook, Sr., a lifelong resident of Queen Anne’s County, passed away on August 26, 2026, at the age of 95.
Born in 1931, Eddie was the son of the late William Henry Cook, Sr. and Lillian Louise Covington Cook. He grew up on his family’s farm in Centreville, where his early years were shaped by family, hard work, and life on Maryland’s Eastern Shore.
As a young man, Eddie proudly served his country in the United States Air Force and later became a highly respected game warden. He loved his country deeply and remained proud of his service throughout his life.
Baseball was one of Eddie’s great loves. A phenomenal player in his younger years, he had a natural talent for the game and carried that love of baseball with him throughout his life. He also enjoyed sharing stories and memories from years gone by. Among the places he had the opportunity to visit, Barcelona, Spain, always remained a favorite.
Eddie is survived by his children, E.D. Cook, Jr. and Libby Cook Walls and her husband, Dallas; Lisa Cook, whom he considered a daughter; his grandchildren, Michael Cook and his wife, Jessica, Kristal Abrams and her husband, Matt, Dave Cook, Shannon Hampton and her husband, Sean, and Jaime Lewis and her husband, Aaron; and his great-grandchildren, Sydney Cook, Morgan Cook, Luke Abrams, Vada Abrams, Sawyer Abrams, Dallas Hampton, Case Hampton, and Ally Cook.
