August is nationally recognized as Make a Will Month, offering an important opportunity to pause, plan for the future and consider one of the greatest gifts we can leave our loved ones: the peace of mind that comes from knowing our wishes are clearly documented.

Creating a will is about more than deciding what happens to your assets. It is an opportunity to reflect on the values that have guided your life and the legacy you hope to leave for future generations. Whether your priority is protecting your family, providing for loved ones or supporting causes that have been meaningful to you, a thoughtfully prepared estate plan can help ensure your wishes are honored.

National Purple Heart Day is observed each year on August 7, honoring the courage and sacrifice of the brave men and women who have been wounded or lost their lives while serving our nation in combat. The Purple Heart is the oldest military decoration still awarded to U.S. service members and stands as a powerful symbol of valor and selfless service.

Today, we pause to remember the nearly two million recipients of this distinguished honor and express our deepest gratitude for their sacrifice. We are forever thankful to all Purple Heart recipients and their families for their unwavering dedication to our country. Please join us in recognizing all Purple Heart recipients.

If you are interested in volunteering with our Vet-to-Vet Program, email us at [email protected] or call (717) 504-3465.

August is Make-A-Will Month, a meaningful reminder that your legacy can make a lasting difference for generations to come.

If you have already included Franklin Hospice in your estate plans, we would be honored if you would let us know so we can welcome you into our Evergreen Society, which recognizes the compassionate individuals who have chosen to support our mission through a planned gift. If you're considering creating or updating your will, there are many ways to leave a legacy, including naming Franklin Hospice as a beneficiary of your will, life insurance policy, retirement account, or through gifts of stock, charitable trusts, charitable gift annuities, and more.

Your legacy helps ensure compassionate end-of-life care and grief support remain available to our community for years to come. Please contact Karen Giffin at (717) 504-3465 or [email protected] to learn more.

Franklin Hospice honors all Veterans, and today the Coast Guard. The Coast Guard’s mission is to protect the public, the environment and U.S. economic interests in the nation's waterways, along the coast, on international waters, or in any maritime region as required to support national security. Today we honor those who have served and continue to serve in the United States Coast Guard. If you are a veteran interested in volunteering with Franklin’s Vet-to-Vet program, please call (717) 504-3465 or email [email protected].

August is National Civility Month— Civility is more than simply being kind—it's about being intentional. It's taking a moment before we speak, listening to understand before we respond, and respecting different perspectives while staying connected.

At Franklin Hospice, we believe every voice matters because meaningful change happens through open, respectful conversation. This month, let's recommit to leading with kindness, listening with empathy, and treating one another with the compassion that strengthens our community.
