Welcome Holly Currier - our new intern who will begin seeing clients in August. Check out the link in our bio to learn more about Holly.

Interns are student therapists who have completeld all of their clinical coursework and are working toward completing their client hours prior to licensure. They are closely supervised by Steffi, our owner and clinical supervisor. They have weekly case consultation sessions and some sessions are recorded and reviewed for traiing purposes. Interns allow us to provide clients with a less expensive option and still have the benefit of highly trained therapists.

This is an advertisement that I have running on FB and Google for services I offer as a Christian S*x Therapist. The number of comments I have received like this have shocked me.

This isn’t new or unusual behavior, unfortunately. Being objectified and reduced to a semen receptacle is part of the female experience.

If you’re a man that behaves this way, just know…there’s never in the history of ever been a self-respecting woman that has been complimented or tempted by your vulgarity. You are the reason we chose the bear…over and over again. You’re the reason we check the back seat before getting in our car. You’re the reason we are aware of every lamp post in a dark parking lot. You’re the reason women don’t want to give their phone number out. You’re the reason women have to be walked to their vehicles when leaving some place late or alone.

I think what does shock me, is that this is done with their names in black and white on a business profile. This isn’t sniggering behind me while I’m on the stair machine, or yelling as I cross the street. This isn’t only fans - it’s a page for therapy - psychotherapy, which I have a master’s degree and license and additional training to perform. There seems to be zero concern that someone will see this. There seems to be zero shame in behaving this way on a public forum.

I will probably pull our advertising, but I’m a little pi**ed off that couples who may need help may not get it. I am the ONLY certified Christian s*x therapist in Arizona. And this is what I’m getting in response to ads.

For the first 18-24 months of a romantic relationship, both people are producing higher than normal levels of oxytocin. This homone creates bonding and connection. It can also create a "rose colored glasses" effect that makes your partner's less desirable qualities.
Around 24 mos, if the relationship is going to have longevity, both partners need to transition from the passionate, l***y, giddy, "in-love" feeling to an attached, secure, bonded and enduring love. That "in-love" feeling will come again over the course of a long relationship, but attached love is what sustains a relationship.

If you need help making this transition or regaining some of those feelings, check out our website and make an appt with me.

If you're looking to strengthen your relationship with your partner there is a simple "Formula for Intimacy" that I have adapted from Dr. Cliff and Joyce Penner's work.
EVERY DAY: Spend 15 minutes connecting
EMOTIONALLY - look into ea other's eyes. This increases oxytocin production, which is the trust hormone. Share a positive thought, feeling and/or affirmation with eachother.
SPIRTUALLY - share an inspirational reading/prayer. If you are not religous, find ways of connecting on a soul level - meditation, breating together, something meaningful.
PHSYICALLY - hug for 20 seconds (incr. oxytocin), kiss passionately for 5-30 seconds without it leading to other erotic touch or s*x. Kissing will increase dopamine, the passion hormone.
Once a WEEK: take a walk, go on a date, take a shower together, spend time caressing (with no demands for s*x or increased erotic touch).
Once a QUARTER: have fun, play together, lead and teach enjoyable touch.
One weekend a YEAR: together or at home, no distractions - take time with eachother.

Many times when a couple comes in for desire discrepency, one partener will tell me that he/she "needs" s*x and the other partner doesn't. S*xual intimacy is a necessary and wonderful part of a relationship, but it is not a "need."
When one partner is creating a dynamic where his/her s*xual needs are taking priority over meeting the mutual needs of the partnership - care, connection, play, presence, intimacy, etc... it acts as a desire killer for his or her partner. So in demanding "I have needs," we make it far less likely for those desires to be met organically or passionately.

As a s*x therapist, my goal is to help narrow the desire descrepency and increase the quality of intimacy and connection between partners. To make an appt, click the link in my bio and let's chat!

Whether you're an adult managing the stress of work or relationships, a teen navigating the trials of growing up, or a child trying to make sense of big emotions, life can be difficult! Everyone can use a helping hand sometimes and that's why I'm here. I've had the pleasure of working with children, their families, and individuals for over 10 years. Together we'll develop goals specific to your needs and identify individualized tools and strategies to help you achieve them. I employ system-based marriage and family theories such as DBT, Solution Focused Therapy, and Internal Family Systems. I offer a warm, non judgemental space where we can work together to tackle life's challenges.

Andrew, an AZ native, comes to us with over a decade of experience working with children, teens and families. Andrew sees children, teens and young adult men.

Andrew is a husband and a father who lives in the East Valley.

When your child, tween or teen arrives for therapy with Andrew, you will see them pick out a game to play. Andrew likes to joke that he plays Uno for a living. The reality is, there is no more effective way to connect with a kid than to get down on their level and join them in their world. The world of play is the world our kids live in (and should live in).
While Andrew plays, he teaches...but your kids don't really notice or feel "taught" because it's part of the game. Andrew is able to fully integrate skill building and emotional processing into the time he spends "playing games" with your kids.
