📸✨ CE Course Recap: Dental Photography with Dr. Rush! ✨

We had a great time learning how to make dental photography a simple, efficient, and valuable part of everyday practice!

Dr. Rush’s course, “Dental Photography: Building a Simple, Profitable, and Efficient Workflow,” gave attendees practical tips on equipment selection, capturing consistent diagnostic-quality images, and creating a repeatable photography workflow.

Participants also learned how clinical photography can support diagnosis, treatment planning, patient education, and case acceptance—all while keeping efficiency in mind.

Dr. Matthew Kahn is a Diplomate of the American Board of Prosthodontics and a Fellow of the American College of Prosthodontists. He received his DDS degree from the University of Maryland Dental School in Baltimore, Maryland in 2003 and served as a general dentist in the United States Navy for 4 years prior to attending the Naval Postgraduate Dental School Prosthodontics Residency. Dr. Kahn graduated from residency in 2010 and completed his board certification from the American Board of Prosthodontics in 2011. Dr. Kahn completed ten years of active service in the United States Navy followed by another 10 years as a Reserve Officer in the Navy Dental Corps. Dr. Kahn was an Assistant Professor of Prosthodontics at the A.T. Still University, Arizona School of Dentistry and Oral Health and the Clinical Director for the Advanced Education in General Dentistry Residency from 2014-2023. Dr. Kahn is currently a staff prosthodontist at the Carl T. Hayden Veterans’ Affairs Medical Center in Phoenix Arizona.

🦷✨ AZAGD Member Spotlight: Dr. Mai-Ly Duong! ✨🦷

This month, we’re shining the spotlight on Dr. Mai-Ly Duong—known for her upbeat energy, positive attitude, and passion for motivating the next generation of dental professionals!

Within the Academy of General Dentistry, Dr. Duong is a true force, serving at the local, regional, and national levels. She currently serves as Executive Director of the Arizona AGD and Trustee for AGD Region 14.

Dr. Duong earned her DMD and MPH from A.T. Still University and is a full-time Associate Professor and Director of Special Care Dentistry at ASDOH, where she is passionate about supporting students, residents, and faculty in treating patients with special needs and complex medical conditions. She also continues to practice as a part-time associate dentist in private practice.

Her dedication to lifelong learning and service has earned her MAGD, LLSR, FSCD, FACD, FICD, and PFA recognition, along with participation in leadership programs including the ADEA Leadership Institute 2024.

💙 Dr. Duong also serves as the Faculty Advisor for the ASDOH AGD Student Chapter, which has been named the National AGD Chapter of the Year twice in the last six years! 🎉

Outside of dentistry, she is a private pilot, scuba diver, ballroom dancer, and musical theatre enthusiast—and she may even serenade patients who enjoy a little entertainment during their dental visits! 🎶✈️🤿

Her commitment to service extends beyond dentistry through the Arizona Oral Cancer Walk and Day for Special Smiles, an all-day service event providing free dental care to adults with special needs, disabilities, and medically complex conditions.

We’re so grateful for everything Dr. Duong brings to AZAGD, our dental community, and the students she inspires! 💙
