GLP-1s Explained
What's actually different between the medications you keep hearing about. Semaglutide, tirzepatide, retatrutide, you've probably seen all three names floating around, but do you actually know what makes them different?
Semaglutide targets one receptor, GLP-1, which slows digestion and signals your brain that you're full. It's the foundation most people recognize from Ozempic and Wegovy.
Tirzepatide adds a second target, GIP, alongside GLP-1. This dual action is associated with enhanced appetite suppression and, for some patients, fewer digestive side effects at comparable doses.
Newer compounds in development add a third pathway, glucagon, aiming to improve outcomes even further. Research here is still early, and these options are not yet FDA approved for clinical use.
The mechanism matters, but so does where your medication comes from. Working with a licensed provider and pharmacy means you know exactly what you're getting, every single time.
