After a few weeks of looking at what’s happening below ground, here’s a little perspective from the person behind Eden Springs.

Deena has been spending plenty of time on site as the project moves from plans and renderings into the work happening on the ground.

And standing beside one of those stormwater pipe sections gives a pretty good sense of just how substantial some of that work really is.

Seven semi-truck loads of pipe went into a system most people will never see once Eden Springs is complete.

This week, Deena gives us a look at the underground stormwater system being installed at the site, a project requested by the local watershed district.
During rain events, runoff will be directed into the network of large underground pipes, where water can be temporarily stored and released at a controlled rate rather than leaving the site all at once. This helps manage how much stormwater moves through the property at one time.

Caring for a parent often means balancing love, worry, logistics, family dynamics, and decisions no one ever feels fully prepared to make.

There is nothing simple about watching someone you love change.

If this feels heavy, confusing, or emotional, that does not mean you are doing it wrong. It means you are in a deeply human part of life.

As we get older, our bodies don't regulate temperature the way they once did.

That means an older adult may not realize they're becoming overheated until they're already at risk for dehydration, heat exhaustion, or even heat stroke.

A few simple ways to help during hot weather:

Encourage fluids throughout the day, even if they don't feel thirsty.
Keep the home cool with fans or air conditioning when possible.
Plan walks or errands earlier in the morning or later in the evening.
Watch for signs like dizziness, unusual fatigue, confusion, or headaches.

A little extra attention during the hottest days of the year can go a long way toward keeping your loved one safe and comfortable.

One of the projects underway is the installation of the Geopier system, which happens before the building’s foundation is constructed.

Geopiers are compacted aggregate piers installed in the ground to strengthen the soil and help support the future foundation. It’s one of those early construction steps that will eventually be completely hidden, but plays an important role in everything that will stand above it.

Deena stopped by the site while the crew was working to give us a closer look at the process.

There are plenty of places to compare amenities, floor plans, and pricing. Those things matter, but they rarely answer the questions families are really asking. "Will someone notice if Mom isn't herself today?" "Will Dad feel comfortable here?" "Will I finally be able to sleep through the night without worrying?" We believe those are the conversations worth having, and they're the ones that have shaped Eden Springs from the very beginning.
