💻 Online Tutoring Nationwide Over time, I discovered my deep passion for teaching reading and writing. However, I realized that some students with learning disabilities, particularly those with dyslexia, were not receiving the support they ne

eded to succeed. This led me to pursue a Master's degree in Education and advanced training to become a certified reading specialist and Wilson Dyslexia Practitioner, specializing in the Wilson Reading System. This evidence-based structured literacy program helps students with dyslexia improve their reading skills. I now teach privately, both in-person and online, providing specialized reading instruction to students of all ages. My goal is to offer intensive, personalized tutoring for students with dyslexia and other language-based learning differences, helping them gain the skills and confidence they need to succeed in school and beyond.

One of the greatest gifts we can give our children is the confidence to say, "I can do this."

That confidence doesn't happen all at once. It grows as children are given opportunities to make decisions, solve problems, and experience success for themselves.

As parents, it's natural to want to step in and make things easier. Sometimes that's exactly what's needed. Other times, the greatest act of support is encouraging our children to take the next step on their own while we cheer them on.

Independence isn't about doing everything perfectly. It's about growing in confidence, responsibility, and the belief that challenges can be overcome.

One small step today can become a lifetime of confidence tomorrow. 💚

There is no perfect home.

There are busy days, hard days, and moments when we wonder if we're doing enough.

But children don't need perfect parents. They need parents who love them deeply, believe in them wholeheartedly, and remind them that their worth is never defined by a reading level.

The love, encouragement, and security you provide each day create a foundation where your child can grow in confidence, resilience, and hope.

Never underestimate the difference a loving home can make.

There are days when it feels like your child has worked so hard with so little to show for it.

On those days, remember this:

Progress isn't measured only by grades or reading levels.

It's found in the courage to keep trying, the determination to tackle a difficult word, and the perseverance to keep going even when learning is hard.

When we celebrate effort, we teach our children that growth is a journey, not a race.

Every small step forward is worth celebrating. 💚

When you're raising a child with dyslexia, it's easy to focus on how far there is still to go.

Instead, take a moment to look back and see how far they've already come.

Every new sound mastered, every word decoded, and every page read is evidence of growth. Those small victories may seem insignificant on their own, but over time they become something extraordinary.

Keep celebrating the little wins. They are building confidence, resilience, and a foundation for lifelong learning.

Your child's progress is worth celebrating, even when it comes one small step at a time. 💚

There may be times when your child's reading journey feels slower or more difficult than you expected.

That doesn't mean it's time to lower your expectations.

Children with dyslexia can achieve incredible things when they receive instruction that matches the way they learn. The path may look different, and it may take more time, but a different path doesn't mean a different destination.

Keep believing in your child's potential. Continue encouraging them through the challenges. The confidence you have in them today can help shape the confidence they have in themselves tomorrow.

Every child deserves to be seen for who they are, not just for how well they read.

A child with dyslexia may struggle to decode words, yet have incredible ideas, endless curiosity, remarkable creativity, or a gift for solving problems. Reading ability is one skill. It is not a measure of intelligence or potential.

If your child is struggling with reading, don't let that become the lens through which you see them. Continue to celebrate their strengths, encourage their efforts, and believe in what they can become.

Sometimes the greatest gift we can give our children is the confidence that we never stopped believing in them.

🌿 New on The Dyslexia Toolbox

Creating a Home Where Your Child with Dyslexia Can Flourish

Over the years, I've worked with many wonderful families, but every once in a while a family leaves a lasting impression.

This week's article is about one of those families.

Their daughter had dyslexia, but what I remember most isn't her reading level. I remember her joy, her resilience, and the home her parents created. They taught me that while effective reading instruction is essential, children flourish because of so much more.

In this article, I share six lessons I learned from their family that I hope will encourage parents raising children with dyslexia.

Whether your child is just beginning their reading journey or has been struggling for years, I hope these lessons remind you that your love, encouragement, and belief in your child matter more than you know.

💚 I'd love to hear from you.

What is one thing you've done that has helped your child flourish beyond reading?

🌿 Read the latest article on The Dyslexia Toolbox:

Creating a home where a child with dyslexia can flourish involves far more than teaching reading skills. Discover six practical lessons every parent can use to build confidence, encourage independence, strengthen family relationships, and help their child thrive, both in school and in life.

Is your child bright but reading is still a struggle?

One of the things I hear most often from parents is, "I know my child is smart. I just can't figure out why reading is so hard."

For some children, those struggles may be signs of dyslexia.

As a reading specialist and Certified Wilson Dyslexia Practitioner, I provide specialized reading tutoring for students in grades 2–12 who have dyslexia or show signs of dyslexia. Using the Wilson Reading System®, an Orton-Gillingham based approach, I help students build the reading and spelling skills they need to become confident readers.

I currently have one after-school opening available, along with daytime online availability.
