Mental health affects how we think, feel, cope, connect, and navigate our daily lives.

To support you on this journey, we’ve created a NEW mental health treatment page on our website that explores common challenges such as anxiety, grief, trauma, depression, mood disorders, and other emotional or psychological concerns.

By learning more about mental health, you can recognize when something feels off and understand that support is available. Remember, you don’t have to wait until things feel unmanageable to reach out for care. At Freedom House, we’re dedicated to providing the support you need to thrive.

Trying to Understand Addiction - Your Questions Matter.

There are no “dumb questions” when it comes to understanding addiction. Many people wonder what addiction truly is, how it starts, why it can be so difficult to stop, and when substance use crosses the line into something more serious.

To help address these questions, we’ve created a NEW page on our website filled with clear information about substances, warning signs, and the types of support available. Understanding addiction is not about placing blame; it’s about creating a path toward help, healing, and recovery.

If you have questions about addiction, remember asking them is a courageous first step towards finding the answers you desire. Your journey to knowledge and healing starts here!

Join us in celebrating Self-Care Month, from June 24 to July 24! Let’s take this time to remember that self-care is something we can embrace every day–24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

Self-care can take many forms, including rest, connecting with others, taking prescribed medications, attending appointments, setting boundaries, asking for help, or taking even one small step toward stability. For those navigating mental health or substance use challenges, self-care isn’t about going it alone; it’s about cultivating habits, building a support network, and accessing resources that promote your well-being.

Take care of yourself and remember, accepting support is an essential part of self-care too.

Mental health and substance use recovery are often deeply connected.

Integrated care means looking at the whole person instead of treating one challenge in isolation. At Freedom House, this can include mental health support, substance use treatment, crisis services, outpatient care, residential services, peer connection, and ongoing care coordination depending on a person’s needs. This approach helps people receive support that reflects what is happening in their life, not just one diagnosis or one moment in time.

Integrated care helps people move forward with every part of their life - connected, personalized, and grounded in long-term recovery.

Mental health includes every part of a person’s story.

July is Bebe Moore Campbell National Minority Mental Health Awareness Month, also recognized as BIPOC Mental Health Month. This month brings attention to the ways culture, community, identity, and lived experience can shape how people understand mental health and seek support. At Freedom House, we believe care should be respectful, compassionate, and responsive to the person in front of us.

Every person deserves support that listens, understands, and helps them move toward healing.
