Our hearts are as full as our new house! 💜🏡

We officially celebrated the ribbon cutting of Brooke, Bright Spot Sober Living's newest residence!

In just about a month, an incredible community came together to help us turn an empty house into a warm, welcoming home for women in recovery.

A heartfelt thank you to Ashley Furniture Home Store in North Charleston, berkeleyhabitatrestore, and every individual who donated, volunteered, or helped us furnish this home. We couldn't have done it without you!

Today, Brooke is officially full, and so are our hearts. 💜

Every piece of furniture, every thoughtful donation, and every helping hand has contributed to something much bigger: a safe, supportive place for women to rebuild their lives and continue their recovery journeys.

💛 Introducing the Brooke House 💛

This September marks five years since we lost our friend, Brooke. As we remember her and the incredible impact she had on so many women in recovery, we are honored to announce that Bright Spot’s third sober living home will be named… Brooke.

There are so many things we could say about Brooke, but perhaps the most special thing about her was the way she made everyone feel like they were her best friend. She had a gift for making people feel important, seen, and genuinely cared for. She never forgot a birthday, a sober anniversary, or the little things that made people feel like they mattered.

Our very own Board President, Chelsea, met Brooke in recovery during one of the darkest seasons of her life. At the time, Chelsea knew very little about AA and wasn’t sure she belonged. Brooke encouraged her, more than once, to stick it out and stay. She made sure even the most basic things were written down in her book so Chelsea could begin learning how to live in the solution. She helped keep Chelsea in rehab when it would have been easy to walk away.

Today, Chelsea is still sober.

That is part of Brooke’s legacy.

Her willingness to help another woman, to make her feel seen, and to remind her to keep going had an impact that reached far beyond those moments.

At Bright Spot, we believe a safe home in recovery can be the beginning of an entirely different life. The Brooke House will be a place where women are reminded that they matter, that they are worth showing up for, and that they never have to walk the road of recovery alone.

Five years after Brooke’s passing, we are grateful to carry her name forward in a place dedicated to the same thing she gave so freely: hope, love, and a willingness to help another woman stay.

Welcome home, Brooke. 💛

Yesterday, ashley_siwecki celebrated 11 years sober. Today, we’re celebrating her. 💛

As Bright Spot’s Board Member and Director of Community Relations, Ashley helps women find connection, support, and a way forward. But her impact reaches far beyond a title. It’s the hand extended when someone doesn’t know where to turn, the familiar face on a nervous first day, and the extra effort to make sure someone feels welcome.

Through some incredibly hard seasons of her own, Ashley has kept going, continued growing, and remained someone other women can turn to. Her willingness to share both the joy and the hard parts of recovery reminds us that we don’t have to navigate any of it alone.

Ashley, thank you for showing up, for staying, and for helping so many women find their footing along the way. We hope you feel the love and support you’ve given to so many others.

Congratulations on 11 years. We’re so grateful you’re part of Bright Spot.

🎉 Please join us in welcoming our newest Board Member, Ashley! 🎉

Ashley has been a familiar face in our recovery community for many years, and we couldn't be more excited to have her join the Bright Spot Sober Living Board of Directors as our Director of Community Relations.

Ashley celebrated 10 years of sobriety on September 6, 2025, and her passion for helping other women shines through in everything she does.

💛 "My own sobriety journey has shown me the power of connection, service, and helping others. Supporting women as they build a foundation in early recovery through safe housing, structure, and community is a mission that is very close to my heart. Bright Spot has built a phenomenal reputation for creating a space where women can heal, grow, and continue their sobriety journey, and I am honored to help further that impact. I truly believe that when women are given support, resources, and a safe environment, they have the opportunity to rebuild their lives and discover what recovery can make possible."

We are so grateful to have Ashley's experience, compassion, and servant's heart helping guide the future of Bright Spot. We know she will make an incredible impact on the women we serve and throughout our community.

And because every great introduction needs a fun fact... 🍨 Ashley is secretly obsessed with hot fudge sundaes this summer!

Welcome to the team, Ashley! 💙

🎉 Help us welcome our newest Board Member, Grace! 🎉

Grace has been in recovery since August 5, 2020, and is passionate about helping others see the hope and possibility that recovery can bring.

She says, "I’m excited to get the word out there about what is possible in the first steps of recovery—a beautiful, hopeful life." 💜

A few fun facts about her:
✨ She's a distant relative of George Washington
⛸️ She's a pretty good ice skater
🎤 She loves karaoke

We're so excited to have her as part of the Bright Spot family and can't wait for the impact she'll make as we continue supporting women on their recovery journeys.

Women in recovery are tired for reasons deeper than sleep….

Healing is exhausting sometimes…

You’re rebuilding your mind, your body, your boundaries, your relationships, and your life all at once…

Be gentle with yourself today… 🧡

If you’re newly sober and it feels hard…
Good. That means you’re doing it for real…

Nobody talks about this part…
The uncomfortable part...
The sitting with yourself part…

But this is where everything starts to change…

Not overnight…
Not all at once…

But slowly… your life gets quieter.
Your mind gets clearer.
Your peace gets real.

So if you’re in it right now…
Hold on…

It really does get better…
