Introducing the Leadership WV Class of 2026

Audrianna Neil is Director of the Southern West Virginia Area Health Education Center at Williamson Health & Wellness Center. Since 2018, she has led initiatives focused on strengthening healthcare access, workforce development, and educational pathways across rural West Virginia, building partnerships and experiential learning opportunities for students and healthcare professionals throughout the region.

Audrianna earned bachelor’s degrees in Psychology and Sociology from the University of Pikeville in 2015, where she was also a collegiate volleyball student-athlete, and later completed her Master of Business Administration in 2019. She also serves as an American Heart Association CPR Instructor and Certified Crisis Prevention Institute instructor, and she enjoys hiking, traveling, and spending time with her husband, Aaron, and their pets, Pepper, Scout, Ginger, and Chester.

Family medicine clinics are increasingly using telehealth to expand access to care, especially in rural communities where healthcare resources and providers may be limited.

E is for Epidemiologist!

Epidemiologists are health professionals who identify the causes of a disease, those at risk of contracting it, and how to stop or control it's spread.

Dr. Tyler Quinn, Assistant Professor for the WVU Department of Epidemiology and Biostatistics, is an epidemiologist who specializes in physical activity epidemiology, exercise physiology, and occupational health. His research focuses on occupational demands like physical activity, psychological stress, environmental conditions, and personal protective equipment on work cardiovascular and metabolic health!

WV AHEC Health Careers A-Z

D is for Dentist

Dentists are licensed healthcare professionals who diagnose, prevent, and treat conditions affecting the teeth, gums, and overall oral health. They play a critical role in helping patients maintain healthy oral health through routine check-ups, restorative treatments, and patient education.

Students pursuing a career in dentistry must complete education and clinical training, typically earning a bachelor's degree followed by a Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) or Doctor of Dental Medicine (DMD) degree and state licensure requirements.

Did you know...

The WVU Institute for Community and Rural Health (ICRH) Dental Student Service Program provides a $50,000 award to selected fourth-year WVU dental students who commit to practicing in an eligible rural or underserved West Virginia community for two years after graduation!

WV AHEC Student Programs Coordinator, Connor Stricklen, had the opportunity to talk to a few of the WVU Rural Track students about the AHEC Scholars Program at their orientation this year!

It was a great opportunity to look at the similarities and mutual benefits of both programs who have the goal of recruiting, training, and retaining health professionals in rural and medically underserved communities in West Virginia!
