Flashback to my days at Thompson Healthcare and Sports Medicine in NJ. We alternated back and forth between the infrared heat lamps and the heated bulb lamps. The advantage of the infrared lamp is that it gets to the muscle layer, but takes much longer to warm up. The heated bulb is hot immediately so you don’t have to keep it on all day just to maintain an adequate temperature. We are currently using infrared at Johns Island Acupuncture. Shown in this pic is an Achilles tendonitis protocol.
