Like so many folks in our region, we were hit by some pretty bad flooding over the weekend.

Our flood shields helped protect the clinic as much as possible, but the water unfortunately breached the shields, leaving damage in several offices, as well as debris and mud residue across our parking lot, garden (which we just had cleaned up for the first time in years 😭), and surrounding areas.

If you're able, please donate to help us cover clean-up costs:

Good news: gender affirming gear is back in stock!

See slide 2 for inventory available at the clinic, free, no questions asked. It's first come first served and quantities are limited, so give us a call at (304) 714-3342 before you head over and we'll let you know what we have.

Pickup is on site only right now. If getting to us isn't possible, you can email our LGBTQ Program Coordinator, Mariah, for a list of alternative resources. ([email protected])

You deserve to feel like yourself in your own body. We're grateful we get to help with that.

Every Monday and Thursday, we restock the Period Pantry. Every Monday and Thursday, it’s already empty. And we’re not complaining; that’s the whole point!

Since we installed it in May, nearly 2,500 period products have gone home with folks on Charleston’s west side who might otherwise have gone without. No forms, no questions, no proof of need. Just a resource for anyone who needs it.

Right now, our biggest need is tampon donations. We would also appreciate donations of menstrual cups, and body wipes.

Help us keep the period pantry full for our community! Donate via the Amazon wishlist linked in our bio.

Please join us in welcoming two new WHC team members, Interim Executive Director Leahanne Thomas and Development Director Erin Dunmore, to the Women's Health Center of West Virginia family!

Serving as WHC WV's Interim Executive Director, Leahanne will be lending her expertise to provide stable leadership during this time of transition. She comes to us through IES, a firm that specializes in guiding nonprofits through executive director changes.

Leahanne specializes in leaving people and places in better shape than she found them, leading organizations through complex transitions, operational turnarounds, and periods of strategic growth. With more than two decades of leadership experience across healthcare, public benefits, membership associations, and mission-driven organizations, she brings a steady, strategic, and deeply human-centered approach to her leadership style.

Over the next 9 months, Leahanne will work closely with our team, partners and community to ensure WHC continues delivering excellent care without interruption for 50 more years.

We are grateful to have her steady hand at the helm during this pivotal chapter for WHC.

In the coming weeks, we look forward to introducing Leahanne more fully to our community. Please stay tuned for opportunities to connect with her directly and learn more about her leadership.

Next, we’re excited to introduce Erin Dunmore (she/her), who has stepped into the role of Development Director of WHC WV. Erin brings more than a decade of experience in nonprofit leadership, grant management, fundraising, and community partnerships. She has worked with organizations focused on sexual and reproductive health, ending gender-based violence, and advancing health equity.

She has a dog named Indie (after indie music) which seems especially appropriate now that she's leading development efforts for an indie repro clinic that has been supporting West Virginians for the past 50 years.

Help us welcome Erin and Leahanne in the comments! 💜

Your zip code shouldn't determine your ability to access care at all—whether that's abortion care, gender-affirming care, or any compassionate, affordable care, period.

Unfortunately, that's the reality we're living in right now. Constant attacks on bodily autonomy and increased barriers to care for folks across our region.

But WHC is still standing, still meeting the needs of our communities, still providing care on Charleston's West Side and across the border in Cumberland, MD. Visit our websites to learn more about services offered at each clinic.
