Some people are taking their Winter Arc to an extreme and I’m not into it. You gotta enjoy the holiday season!!! BUT I don’t hate implementing some resolutions early and making them true habits vs something you do in January and then you are donezo. Maybe make one commitment to yourself to stick to over the next 3 months? Read for 10 minutes? Actually take your magnesium before bed? PS these videos are from a trip I took where they had an indoor snow room. You are supposed to go from the sauna to the ❄️. Isn’t that fun? 🤩 tell me are you going to follow this Winter Arc trend?

Anyone else experience brain fog mid-day? Just me? Please say it’s not just me...

If you’re looking for something other than a double espresso with olive oil (again, just me?) to help keep your at bay, try some of these.

Pro tip: Getting 7-8 hours of sleep and not spending your time scrolling may help you focus a bit better, perhaps even better than eating these foods. But then how will we watch Taylor Swift Eras clips on repeat if we put our 📱 down? Again, just me?

Here’s on my list:

Olives- Luteolin, a flavonoid found in 🫒 , may alleviate symptoms associated with brain fog. Luteolin works by protecting neural cells from oxidative stress and inflammation, two factors that may contribute to cognitive dullness and decreased mental clarity.

Cottage cheese is a source of Vitamin B12, which plays a role in maintaining the health of the myelin sheath, which surrounds and protects nerve fibers, facilitating the swift transmission of electrical impulses between brain cells. While cottage cheese isn’t the only source of vitamin B12, it is a yummy one!

- Your brain fog may be a result of your poor hydration status. Using this electrolyte mix may help support your hydration.

Pistachios *client - A survey showed that 92% of breakfast skippers who snacked on pistachios mid-morning felt more focused.

Tulsi Green Tea—Green tea contains the compound L-theanine, which promotes relaxation without drowsiness and fosters a heightened state of alertness. Tulsi has also been observed to reduce stress-induced cognitive impairment.

- avocados are a source of , an antioxidant that may play a role in improving cognitive functions.

Eggs - Choline is a nutrient that aids in producing acetylcholine, a neurotransmitter important for 🧠 health. They also contain vitamin B12. eggs are richer in vitamin E vs ordinary eggs, a powerful antioxidant that plays a crucial role in cognitive health.

Resharing this one bc I think it’s an important thing to remember to look at which strain you are choosing if you take a probiotic supplement. If you are and taking a probiotic supplement, you may want to make sure the strains you are taking are targeting what your goals are. Here is a brief summary of what I found in the literature - and for the record, I’m a big fan of probiotics during pregnancy. Just don’t forget to feed those buggers with prebiotic fiber! PS I have the references if you need them. Just dm me and I’ll get them to you in the new year.

I will admit - it is nice to get recognition once in a while. Thank you, Digital Health Awards, for the honor! In this role, I get a lot of negative feedback from self-proclaimed “nutrition experts” near and far. Getting some positive feedback once in a while is pretty nice 😊.

If you are and you haven't heard of the nutrient , promise me you will read this.

Choline is pivotal in supporting maternal and fetal health during . This recently published review discusses the evidence regarding choline in pregnancy.

Like folic acid/folate, choline is indispensable for neural tube formation, brain development, and the overall well-being of expectant mothers, rendering it a cornerstone of prenatal care. Inadequate choline intake is associated with neural tube defects, cognitive deficits in offspring, and maternal health complications.

The authors conclude that choline supplementation shows promise in enhancing both maternal and fetal health. BUT -- its full benefits can only be realized through further research, so tbd on more.

It is recommended to consume 450 mg of choline during pregnancy. Note that it is possible to consume enough via your diet by eating foods like eggs, lean beef, peanuts, and cauliflower. This nutrient isn't always discussed during appointments, so take this as your sign!

Man, do I get jazzed when I get the opportunity to empower dietitians with nutrition knowledge about women’s health-related topics. I don’t know exactly what I was talking about when this first pic was snapped, but I sure do look excited about it. Thank you for inviting me to speak to ALL of your dietitians and interns and for for your support. And if you haven’t entered the perimenopausal transition yet, please please please focus on having strong bones before your hormone levels start changing. You will thank me when you are older 😉. 📸 Dawson.

When compared with other dietary patterns, higher pre-treatment adherence to the “pro-fertility” diet was associated with increased probability of live birth among women undergoing assisted reproduction, including IVF, according to a fantastic study. PMID: 30742825. And this is the diet I recommend people explore when getting ready for IVF. The basic guidelines are shared by N’Sync on this post, but if you have more specific questions, let me know!

Help your body get the most out of your vitamin d supplements and make sure you are taking in enough magnesium too. FYI the RDA for magnesium is 310 mg per day for females aged 19-30 years old (350 mg during pregnancy). You can meet your magnesium needs via your diet. But if you are coming up short, discuss supplementation with your health care provider. *don’t forget to save and share this post if it’s helpful!

Y’all- just because someone had a child after struggling with challenges, that doesn’t mean that they are an expert in the field. Same goes for people who lost weight, managed their diabetes, or other things like that. I see advice on here that is not only inaccurate, but it can be dangerous to follow in certain situations. Not to mention some advice can be extremely stressful to follow. Stick to people who are credentialed and are required to abide by a code of ethics per their registration or licensure. Not only will it help keep you safe, but it may help you actually reach your goals too. .
