Needles and “spa day” conventionally don't go together, but Dwayne Russ says the North Charleston lab crew gave him the treatment! 😄

This week, we are proud to recognize U.S. Air Force Veteran Dwayne Russ as our Veteran of the Week.

Our team loves hearing stories like Dwayne's, and we hope to continue the trend of welcoming and pleasant experiences, that even a trip to the lab feels a little easier.

Thank you for your service, Dwayne, and thank you to our North Charleston team for making every interaction count!

A new chapter opened today for Veterans in the Lowcountry.

Representatives from the Ralph H. Johnson VA Health Care System joined the Tunnel to Towers Foundation and community partners to celebrate the grand opening of the North Charleston Veterans Village.

Created from a former hotel, the 90-unit community will provide permanent housing and comprehensive supportive services for Veterans experiencing homelessness. More than a place to live, it offers stability, connection and a pathway forward.

Ending Veteran homelessness is a cooperative mission focused on partnership and enduring commitment. We are proud to stand alongside organizations working to ensure Veterans have the dignity, resources and support they have earned.

Take a look at this remarkable photograph of our hospital nearly six decades ago, complete with a wide-open front lawn and some classic cars lining the street.

Although the Charleston landscape has certainly changed considerably since 1967, our commitment to serving Veterans with excellence and respect remains as strong as ever.

National recognition for excellence in Veteran care!

The American Hospital Association has named the Ralph H. Johnson VA Health Care System the recipient of its 2026 Quest for Quality Prize, an honor presented to only ONE of the AHA’s more than 5,000 member hospitals and health systems each year.

We are recognized for our culture of safety, data-driven quality improvement and innovative approaches to delivering patient-centered care to more than 108,000 Veterans across coastal South Carolina and Georgia.

From mental health community partnerships, to expanding virtual care, to using 3D printing to support complex procedures; our employees continue finding new ways to improve access, safety and outcomes for Veterans.

“Our Veterans deserve nothing less than the highest standards of quality and safety, and that commitment guides every decision we make.”
— Scott R. Isaacks, Director and CEO
